SJONES2014: I am trying to figure out center pieces but can’t decide on which one i really like. I want something very simple but still elegant. These should be fun to make for you, when will you start?

Dreambee:  My wedding isnt until October so what I am thinking is I should buy some fake silk flowers and some “real feel” flowers and make a center piece with each NOW and see what they look like and what they look like after 12 hours of being in the glass vase… this way I will know what the flowers will look like and which one I should use…. I found these flowers at Vons and they are the colors of my wedding but I am afraid to use real flowers under water for very long because I dont know how they will do….

Ideally I am the type that would like to have all the centerpieces done a month ahead and all I need to do is put the water in the night before or the day of and be done with it LOL so thats where I am at right now, I will definitely post my progress as I experiment…

Everthing was super easy. Wood slab, mason jar, ribbon, hydrangeas, and candle votives. We assembled them the morning of the wedding at the venue and it didn’t take more than 20 minutes to do 13. In total I would say it cost about $30-40 per centerpiece because I bought everything piece by piece when they were either on sale or with a 50% off coupon at AC moore. We also orders our flowers in bulk from sams club online so we saved a ton there!

AndreannaApollina:  I am doing 4 centerpieces and 3 of them are DIY. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on flowers that are going to just die.

1) wine bottle centerpieces – I put a post on FB asking friends and coworkers to save them for me so they were free. I wrapped some with yarn (half off at hobby lobby), glitter some (also half off at hobby lobby) and I’m going to spray paint some.

2) wine cork centerpieces  (6″ x 8″ vase with a 3″x7″ vase inside) the 6″vases I bought off craigslist for $30 and the 7″ bulk from dollar tree candles were half off at hobby lobby $3 for 2. ($12 total)

3) floating candle centerpiece with floating pearls (pearls from amazon ($20 total) vases bulk from dollar tree  2 9″ vases and 1 7″vase candles bought from yummi candles on sale

(Stock photo from amazon) I guess I didn’t take one when I was playing around with them.

4) flowers in a DIY glitter vase. Vase from dollar tree

all centerpieces will be on Cabinet doors (as seen in #1) bought from a discount wholesale building supply store  for $2 each  and I ha e 3 cases (216 total) votive candles bought from yummi for $20 for 72 candles

steph91:  I’m also doing a Gatsby old hollywood theme for my daughter’s party. Where did you find your feathers? Where they decently priced?
