Hmm. Well, the problem with the dark blue and such is probably that they’re the wrong colors! I would recommend trying things out on your own unless your Maid/Matron of Honor is really, really dedicated to learning makeup skills :). I’m going to guess that the winged eyeliner is the most difficult part of the last look. All you’ll need is a really bright white shadow with a bit of gray to do the color.

Here’s a tutorial for winged eyeliner. You might want to practice on yourself so you can give your Maid/Matron of Honor tips!

As far as getting the right colors, I would recommend either looking at Make Up Forever’s line or Tarina Tarantino’s line of shadows. They tend to be very true to shade, and TT is buildable, so it’s easier to get the smoky look.

    Good luck!!!

My biggest suggestion would be to pick colours that suit you, and a style of eye you would like to do, and have your Maid/Matron of Honor practise, practise, practise. Unless she is already a makeup artist, the more you two practise, the more she will be able to hone her skills and figure out how to best achieve the look you want. Going for a natural and understated look will obviously be much easier for her, but if you are keen on dramatic looks like the pictures you posted, it is not impossible. It will just require a lot of trials (and errors), and a bit of knowledge on application techniques.

I also highly suggest checking out some of the makeup artists who do videos on Youtube, as they share some great tips and techniques. I would suggest:

    • Pixiwoo – makeup artist sisters who know their stuff, whose videos range from basic to advanced tutorials
    • Gossmakeupartist – has amazing and very well explained videos. Less eye makeup videos and more about face and general techniques (contouring, etc). I have a major crush on him too!
    • Lisaeldridgedotcom – explains techniques very well and even has a couple of bridal makeup tutorials

    Don’t be too disheartened yet!
