@kaitlyn.janelle  I actually read this post  on how he asked, before seeing you on here!

I personally always hated posting anything about my relationships on social media, BUT I remember seeing this pic and thinking I just HAD to do it if I ever got engaged because it may be cheesy, but I loved it so much. My Fiance and I are both coffee lovers and we also work together, and since we started dating I would bring him Starbucks every Friday morning! So this was how I announced our engagement:

We posted a photo with my fiancee holding a sign that said “the future Mrs. Gray” with an arrow pointing to me.

Aw these are so cute!

I had expected to just change my status and not do any kind of announcement. Fiance does not share much on social media, and I mostly post pics of my dog and share articles or things of interest, not personal stuff.

But then he proposed two days before my final defense for my PhD! Two huge momentous life events at once — was too excited to contain it! So after we told our family and close friends, I just made a status, no pics, saying that I am now the future Dr. Hislastname!

My mom actually posted it before it happened! She knew Fiance would propose just after 8pm (he did it at Top of the Rock in NYC and our tickets were for 8 o’clock) so at 7:45 she announced that something big was about to happen! A lot of people actually guessed it in the comments. After she got the call that it was official, she confirmed it to everyone!

The next morning we had a brunch with both our families, after which I posted it myself:

@chrissybee  Mine wasn’t pretty but it was the first photo of us engaged. It was taken by a tourist on Westminster Bridge where we walked to look back at the Palace of Westminster after he proposed in Westminster Abbey. You can tell it was a surprise proposal! My hair looks crap and I was wearing grey cords and a creased Primark white shirt under that coat. Check out the flat heels height difference too.

We waited 4 days to post it on Facebook as there were people I wanted to tell personally first.

In stark contrast to my incontinent behaviour on the Bee, I’ve never posted ring pictures on social media. L

I just changed my status to engaged and changed my profile pic to this! We were snowmobiling in the mountains when he proposed.

I just changed my relationship status. We got a ton of likes and comments. I didn’t post a pic of my ring, and I didn’t make some huge deal out of it. I’m not one to get all sappy and over the top about stuff like this. I did call certain family members and friends before changing my status though.

@gemabride  Hi, Have you consider to do something different then just to post a picture? Have you thought to create a small video with music (around 30 sec) and add in to this your pictures with writing that it will say a story about your journey to your engagement. I cannot send you here a sample of engagement video footage but attaching screen shots. Hope that helps.
