@Pearberry:  Such a beautiful location and I like how you have a picture breaking Americas tradition.  Was your proposal on leap year, I know that is their tradition.  If I have to wait until leap year to proposal that will be almost 5 years together.  I hope not!!  But again, love the pics πŸ˜€

He knew that I wanted pictures taken and they turned out perfect, even though they are dark and were taken with a phone, they are still such great pictures to me!

My Fiance proposed on stage at an Eye Empire rock concert. I was completely and utterly shocked. We had met the band a few times prior and they always recognized us and we’d talk and hang out. My Fiance is a huge fan of thiers and all night he kept going by their merch table or outside where the band was taking smoke breaks and I kept joking with him to quit stalking them. Then during their headlinig set they called us up on stage and I was so shocked and confused. I thought my Fiance was going to attempt to sing with him (and he can’t sing to save his life) so I was hesitant and someone had to push me up on stage before I decided I wouldn’t let him make a fool of himself by himself lol. Then he took the mic and got on one knee, one of my friends was there and kind of close to the stage and got a few pictures and video from her phone because my Fiance told her he was planning on doing it right before hand,  so they aren’t the best pictures…BUT they are still my favorite pictures ever!

@lovesweetlove:  Thank you! Sorry for taking so long to reply. For most Thai people, men don’t usually go down on their knees to propose (although some men might do that). Couples talk about getting married, go rings shopping together and set a date on their engagement/wedding ceremony. It is usually held in the morning (this is what people call the act of putting rings on each other, so it is more like a part of a wedding). There are many other details involve like men giving dowry to women’s family, etc. Close friends and relatives will be invited to the ceremony. Then they’ll have a wedding reception later in the evening. So, the concept of a Thai engagement is quite different from the west. However, my engagement ceremony was actually a little different because my parents didn’t want dowry. We invited friends and (mostly)my relatives to the ceremony. He put the ring on me, and then we had lunch together. It was simple although he was quite surprised because I had almost 50 guests coming to the ceremony. He said for Slovaks that could have been a wedding! Wink

We got engaged on January 28, 2011, two days after my 26th birthday. My fiance told me that my friend was hosting a “small dinner party” to celebrate my bday and said there would only be 5-7 people there.

He was supposed to pick me up and take me over, but called me on my way home from work to say he was working late and that he’d have to meet me there. I was kinda disappointed, but also got a little suspicious.

As I was getting ready to go to my friend’s house, my sister left to “go shopping” and my parents left “to get some ice cream.”

So when I walked into my friend’s house, it was suspiciously dark and quiet. We walked around the corner and there were about 15-20 of my friends and family yelling “surprise!” So it started off as a surprise bday party. I opened some gifts, and then my friend handed me a bowl of M&M’s, saying that they were part of my boyfriend’s gift to me. I scooped up a handful and saw that they were the custom M&M’s that read “will you marry me?”

My hand flew to my mouth and my BF leaned over and said, “What’s it say?” And then he reached into his pocket, got down on one knee and said, “Oh, yeah, about that . . . ” and proposed!

I don’t have any of him actually doing it, but this one is from right after.  I had NO idea it was coming.  We went to a concert together and afterwards, he asked about going on an adventure to the gazebo behind the venue…

I have a few pictures!! πŸ™‚ Actually, I have a lot but I’ll keep it at a minimum πŸ™‚

My fiance and I had been dating for 7 years, and for the last year and a half I have been bugging him about a ring. We decided to wait until we graduated this December, but he was sneaky and did it way early! (July) The whole thing was to throw me off! So I had no idea it was about to happen!

My brother texted me while I was at work wondering if my BF (at the time) and I wanted to go with him and his girlfriend to the lighthouse just outside of town at sunset. We all live up at school in the summer, so I had never visited the lighthouse but had always wanted to. So I said sure. My BF picked me up from work, we went home and got ready. I had no idea that he had just got back from picking up my ring that he had made for me! We went out to the lighthouse, right as the sun was setting. It was so perfect. I think I even said, wow this is romantic! I wanted to look at all the historical stuff, and of course they all wanted to go down to the beach. So I went down, and my BF asked if I wanted a picture in front of the lighthouse. I said sure, so my brother and his girlfriend got out the camera and phones and we posed, and I started to get a weird feeling like something was about to happen.

Here’s the “before”. (I would have done something better with my hair if I ahd known I would be looking at these pics for the rest of my life!) You can see him holding the ring in his pocket! πŸ™‚ All of a sudden, he turns, I see a small black box, and I lose it! I turned away and covered my face, shouting “No way! No way!” he had to bring me back over to him! He said, “Come back here! You didn’t even let me get down on one knee!” πŸ™‚

So after a couple minutes of me trying to gain my composure, I opened my eyes the best I could while he got down on one knee and said the words I had been waiting forever to hear! πŸ™‚

Of course I said yes!! πŸ™‚ I was so happy he was sneaky! He planned the whole thing, from my brother texting me to having him take the pictures because he knew I wanted to have them! I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him πŸ™‚

It’s beautiful! Made just for me with his great grandmother’s diamond. It’s exactly what I wanted <3

One more for the road πŸ™‚
