He arranged dinner on the roof of the church where we met at sunset, our best friends served us my favorite food, and another friend played and sang our song “Dancing in the Minefields” when he actually proposed and we danced afterwards. 😀

I just got engaged last week! He proposed at Lover’s Point in Monterey (a beautiful seaside cliff) It is a really special place to us and when he got down on one knee, I instinctly covered my face with my hands and closed my eyes. He had to rub my arm for a while to calm me down and make me open my eyes, but when I finally did and saw him on one knee, I started crying (so I still couldn’t see haha) I was all out of breath so when he asked me to marry him all I could get out was, “Mhm.” 🙂

This was at Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House in Savannah, GA on June 22, 2010. It was 11am and after our brunch we were headed home from this week on the beach. Fiance said he would NEVER do anything like this, for fear of loosing the ring on vacation in a strange place. Well…he surprised the heck out of me! He said he’d had it with him the entire trip, but “forgot” it every night when we went out to a romantic spot. So he did it 20 mins before we left. I’m luck I even had makeup on!!! Hindsight…its perfect, he’s perfect for me…and I LOVE this memory and the complete stranger who took these photots and emailed them to me. I’ll treasure them forever:

I love this thread!!!
We walked into my parents house for dinner, and both his and my parents and siblings (my sister and niece drove 8 hours to be there!) were all lined up on the couches, smiling like fools. I thought we were just meeting my folks for dinner, so I was totally caught off guard.

Love, love, love this thread!!!!!!!!
My fiance arranged ahead of time for his cousin, who moonlights as a photographer on the side, to hide and capture it all going down. After a pretty epic three day adventure that started in Michigan as I was leaving for a trip to visit home in Florida, I found myself in Chicago at Shedd Aquarium, the scene of our first date two years prior. I obviously knew walking up what must be about to happen but it was still the most magical moment ever… after he proposed on the viewing deck with the city in the background he wrote in chalk “She said yes!”
This one still gives me goosebumps every time I see it!
Ring? What ring?!?!? I could’ve cared less, I just wanted to kiss him and tell him how much I loved him!
I love how the people in the background, who had figured out what was happening, were cheering, applauding, and apparently taking video of it? Dear Strangers, I would love to get a copy of that video! LOL!

@Kkaattii: Awwww! So sweet! I love that he incorporated the tradition 🙂
LOL, I love how it almost looks like paparazzi in the background. Very well coordinated!
Awww yay! I work at Roc Center, and I love all the happy moments there.
I love the look on your face!
My fiance also proposed to me with a video he made, and I love being able to watch it whenever I want too 😀
Awww, I love it!
My goodness, I love this thread!!!! I want to respond to each and every one of you, but my broken arm is wearing me out. Just know that I love all of your stories and pics 🙂

Although I knew about the ring (I picked it out), I still wanted him to do the old fashion thing and ask my father and get down on his knee. I wasn’t expecting my ring to be in until after I was home from my hysterectomy surgery, but it came in the day before and he didnt mention to me that he had it. So he planned to have my cousin and some family there when he did it right 🙂
Day after my surgery (I slept the remainder of the day of my surgery). My cousin and mom was there, so she used her phone to record it. I was still alittle loopy from the pain meds and stuff, but here is what I took from the video.
It’s a horrible picture but its okay 🙂

I don’t have any pics, it was just the two of us at the time, but I love this thread! The stories and photos are awesome!
And to the bees who got engaged in Chicago (there seem to be many of you!), I am so jealous! Our first vacation together was to Chicago and I loved every minute of it. Definitely need to go back 🙂

I would just like to say that this is the most adorable thread I have seen in a while.
My DH proposed on the beach where we met three years earlier. We were walking and talking and he switched from normal coversation to something that was obviously rehersed and I didn’t really know what was going on. He had set up his gopro camera in that spot to take pictures every few seconds so there was no picture of him down on one knee, but i thought this one was incredibly cute (especially becuase the boat we happeded to stop in front of says 99 cent romance!) My family makes fun of us for that often. but I love it.
