DH and I first officially met when a mutual friend asked us both to go ice skating with him at the mall on the day after Christmas in 2002.
Eight years to the day later, DH and I planned once again to go ice skating there. We brought along that same mutual friend. The friend told us he wanted to take pictures, but DH couldn’t find his camera, so I was told to grab mine at the last second. We got to the mall, and at first, our friend was being super camera happy… for a couple minutes. Then he went pale and asked me why the camera said it was full. It turned out that I had grabbed the wrong SD card, and the one I grabbed was full of pictures I hadn’t transferred to my computer yet. He frantically started deleting all the pictures he had already taken that day. I was confused by his panic, so I wondered if something was up.
When we got to the skating rink, it was insanely crowded. I actually suggested just leaving to DH, but he said that since we had come all that way already, we might as well. I sighed but gave in. I’m glad I did, too. After a few laps on the ice…
We ended up with only six pictures from that day, but our friend managed to capture the perfect moment.

Mr.Ninja planned a HUGE surprise with a ton of our closest friends and family at the place we met, grew up, and fell in love. I was SHOCKED! I wasn’t showered or dolled up, but thankfully my family did my hair and threw a dress on me, because they knew what was coming. Hahah. Here are a few shots of the day. We have a video, too, which I LOVE. Mr.Ninja is not a planner, usually, so I was just floored.
There are tons of great photos, but for the sake of all of our loved ones’ privacy, I’ll keep them off the net. The faces are GREAT, though! Hahah.
The sneaky boat came around the dock with a BIG proposal banner.
NinjaBee speechless- that never happens! *yay for ugly cry face, haha*
Lots of love!
Surprise party that they all threw for us. T-shirts included! Mr.Ninja didn’t even know!

Love this thread!
Oh my goodness your surprise face is priceless! I love it!
My Fiance and I went on a trip to my college (we went to rival schools) and proposed under the Century Tree there. It’s an old tree with a lot of tradition behind it and it had always been my dream to have this elaborate Aggie proposal. After we started dating I let go of that dream (because he’s a longhorn) but he made it come true anyways 🙂 He had my sister and brother in law hidden away to take pictures.
Jumping wfor joy:
Later that night he surprised me with a mini engagement party with my closest college friends whom I hadn’t seen in a very long time at the place where we first met…he jokes saying I looked more excited in this picture than of the ones where he was proposing…but really I was so excited about the proposal I was sent into shock, where as when I saw my friends I was just normal excited 🙂
