So I am all about getting a really good deal, no im not an extreme couponer or anything I just love getting amazing items at a discount! Not talking about “cheap” items here but talking about genuinely nice items that dont break the bank. Share with me your favorite budget finds for your wedding!!!
My parents are paying for the reception food and open bar, my future inlaws are paying for the rehersal dinner and my future grandmother in law is buying the cake.
Fiance and I are responsible for everything else on a strict budget of $9,000: seems like a lot but this stuff adds up amazingly quick!
Guest Transportation to and from hotel and reception
Bridal suite rental for all the girls to get ready in
Ceremony Decor/Reception Decor
Dress and accessories
Bridesmaids/Groomsmen Gifts/Parent gifts
Some of the AMAZING deals I have nabbed so far are:
I got our STD’s for $55.89 including tax and shipping (Originally would have cost over $85+, not a huge savings but hey, every little bit counts!) This price was for 100 STD’s/ These were supposed to have a gold border printed and I paid for a proof to be sent to me but the company said they couldnt provide the color in the proofs so I cancelled the ink and went with the black and white, my parents like this better because they thought it was more black-tie than the gold border.
I got 5 of these sequin scarves for $24.97! The scarves would have originally cost $297.50 for all of them at their full price. They were in a clothing store at christmas time and I really liked them but wasnt going to spend that much on them and recently went on sale for $19.99 (original price was $59.50 each) and on the day I went in they were having a 50% of sale items making them $9.99 each, so the total was $49.97 BUT I happened to have a $25 gift card for a whopping grand total of $24.97! I am going to use the scarves as table runners on the cocktail tables. They arent as shiny as they appear in the photo the are more matte and a champagne color rather than a gold.
I also got 12 various mercury gold glass vases to use on the round tables at the reception the vases ranged in price from $4.99-$7.99 at marshalls/Tjmaxx and homesgoods. I went around to different stores at christmas time to stock up. I ended up spending a little under $60 for 12 of them. We will have 12 round tables and 10 long rectable tables but the round and rectangle tables will have slightly different vases on them (all mercury gold though) This is only half of the vases. Sorry for the terrible photo 🙁

Hands down it was my dress. A $2500 dress for $500!! YES!!
As for the others…
I got my green tablerunners on ebay for $20.
Most of my decor came from Michaels…at 40% off!
I made exact replicas of a pair of $220 earrings for $8! Take that ridiculously expensive bridal jewelery designer Thomas Knoell!

I don’t have any photos…however I am getting a serious bargain on my flowers! We were referred to a florist by some friends; she works out of her home and imports all her flowers herself. She’s colombian and still has family there that she visits frequently, so that’s where her flowers are from. Her prices are beyond reasonable, and flowers were something I did NOT want to splurge on. We’re getting 20 low centerpieces (full, round, densely packed white and ivory roses and hydrangeas with peacock feathers mixed in), 2 high centerpieces (for the ceremony/head tables), all bouts/corsages, votives, delivery/set-up/tear-down…for $1500!! I’m SO happy!

@applecat: Holy cow! thats a great deal!! We are spending $900 on bulk flowers but we have to do all the work ourselves to make the arangements setup/take down. If i could get that price I would definitely be having somone do it for me! Ill admit im kind of jealous of your deal! lol

@PeachSnapple: You got that dress for $500? WOW! It’s GORGEOUS!

I bought my simple chiffon dress from a China-based website ($100!). Same for favors (like $0.50 a piece), silk ribbon, veil, purse and jewelry. Shoes were $25 at Payless. My grandma made burlap table runners. Our total budget ended up being close to $9000 for everything (including a local honeymoon).

I just found an awesome deal yesterday at Rite Aid of all places! I’ve been looking for a bird cage card holder that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, but all the affordable ones I have seen are rather small. I found this one for $15, they were having a 1/2 off garden accessories sale! It’s a good size also, it’s 18 inches high (not including the hook) and 26 inches around! We are only planning on 40 guests so this is perfect!

Great deals ladies! So far my best ones are:
- white faux fur bolero jacket for 34.00 down from 129.99
- 2 grey faux fur collars for my bridesmaids for $5 each (originally $35.00 each)
- 2 pairs of shoes for me (one with a wedge heel for the ceremony and a flat pair in the same colour for the reception) for $50
I’m getting married in November and grabbing as much as I can in seasonal clearance.

PeachSnapple: Your dress is beautiful, I hate to be rude but where did you get it?

we are doing two different center peices, but this is one. It cost less than $10 to do! Got the vase at the dollar store and the flowers from silkflowerfactory.com.
We are doing 35 of these, and 35 three teir white pillar candles in vases. Already sold these, so in the end these cost us $75 🙂

Footballwife: Just a tip, don’t put water directly in those mercury glass vases. The metallic will bubble and peel. Use a clear vase or something inside to hold the water if you are using them for flowers. We got some clear ones at the dollar store so it didn’t cost much. We tried it without and that’s when I saw the damage. One other tip, I used a blow dryer to dry inside the vase and the metallic seemed to shrink back into place so there was no permanent damage. Definitely do not rub them to dry or the metallic will come right off.
Most mercury glass made today is not immersible.

And if anyone needs/ wants gold chargers for their reception, DOLLAR TREE has some! I like my $1 chargers better than my FMIL’s $22 version! Here is a pic of them as a part of my Thanksgiving tablescape 🙂
I’m definitely going to follow this thread! I love seeing everyone else’s bargains! I’ll share things that might be useful too 🙂

LadyAprill: wooo, I am totally going to check out those chargers at the dollar tree. Here are some vases I got at Dollar Tree today with the flowers and votives from Michaels.
