We got married outside on the tundra and I had a convertable dress. it was ankle length for the ceremony and then folded up to my knees for the picnic portion afterwards, as far as I know there are quite a few dress designs that do this and if you got an A-line style that didn’t have much poof to it it would be simple to have a seamstress design something similar (thats what I did)

Here is the short version (I ended up going with a different belt, but it is essentially the same

I had a garden wedding, lots of treking through gravel, grass and dirt. Yes my dress got dirty and wet, and I even stepped on it and put a hole in the train but it really didn’t matter, I can easily photoshop out the few mud spots that showed and I just washed the underside in the bathtub after the wedding.

Wear whatever you want, and if you are scared of ruining your dress, I present the petticoat with train:

So your dress wouldn’t actually touch the floor ๐Ÿ™‚

I will wear my lace chapel train thought the mud if I have to! But seriously, I’m going to buy a paper aisle runner and tack it down in the grass. If the hem gets grass stains then oh well.

@Sapphire-Dreamer:  that is the dress, it is a Casablanca from 2008 but I can’t remember the style number. The train was the reason I bought this dress!

I went with a simple lace dress. And it wasn’t the garden that got my dress dirty, it was the parade down the streets of the French Quarter. ๐Ÿ™‚ But dirt comes off! I also tore the lace on the side of my dress during the reception (snagged it on some wrought iron – the hazards of getting married in New Orleans). But I look at my distressed dress as a sign that I had a good time! ๐Ÿ™‚
