I love green stones, especially sapphires and emeralds.
It has been too long since there was a green stone thread, I love to see all the beautiful stones πŸ™‚

Mine is more of a deep blue-green colour. Centre stone is just over 1ct blue-green oval sapphire set with 0.3ct pear diamonds in 18K yellow gold.

The sapphire appears quite dark in photos, but the blue-green flashes all thoughout the stone. The colour changes from a royal blue to a viridian green to navy depending on lighting.
I love the contrast with the diamond side stones. What style are you considering?

Not the best photo, but I love my vintage 1920s emerald! I’m also a little concerned about the durability (but considering its age it can’t be that fragile?) and always make sure to take it off if there’s a chance it could get wet or damaged by chemicals while cleaning etc. The emerald is roughly 3mm x 3mm, not sure of the carat weight and I wear a size 4.5.

This is my tsavorite garnet. No idea what carat size, it’s a size L ring. Bought it from London’s jewelry quarter – Haton Garden.

hermionegranger :  before settling on a less durable stone go on Etsy and search both “green diamond ring” and “loose green diamond”. I’ve fallen down an Etsy browsing hole lately and there are some amazing things on there, and there are loose stone for seemingly great prices if your more into uniqueness than the 4 Cs.

This is my mint green sapphire! It’s an EidelPrecious ring, a little over 1.5 carats in a size 5 rose gold pavé setting. I’m in love with it!

Oh, the glorious greens on this thread! I love how much variety there is πŸ’š

Tigerlilly35 :  That ring is beautiful, I can’t believe I have never seen it on here before. Love the yellow gold/white gold combo, and how delicate and pretty it is. I find most antique settings to be too bulky anf gaudy for my taste, but I adore yours.

eirlys :  Now, THAT is green! I love how the channel set diamonds accent it.

faina9286 :  I love your ring! The rose gold really balances that perfect minty colour. Helps to warm & balance it! Some EidelPrecious stones I had pinned were actually the inspiration for my fiancé when he picked this colour… the jeweller didn’t have any like it in stock so it was specially cut for him πŸ™‚

OP, Depending on your colour preferences you could also look into Tourmaline, Peridot or Green Spinel. None have quite the same colour or glow as an emerald though.

Mohs hardness is not everything, just sayin’!
There is plenty of antique emerald jewellery out there that still looks well.
The main reason that it is not reccomended for eRings is that they are exposed to lots of daily wear and tear, which can cause scratches or wear down the facets. If you aren’t very physical with your hands at home or work, it won’t be at high risk of scratches. Setting your stone in a bezel or diamond halo can also help protect it.
You can totally rock a beautiful emerald eRing provided you care for it well and are willing to have it repolished in the future if necessary.

@hermiongranger my ring is a 3 stone emerald and diamond ring. Thought might be good for inspiration as you are looking into green stones. (As an aside I know 2 women with emerald rings which are still going strong 40years plus so I’ll take my chances with my emerald stone. )

Good luck in your search for a pretty green stone
