Hi ladies!
I’m currently looking for my wedding cakes and honestly I just can’t justify spending $1000+ on a cake. I’ve talked to some wedding cake bakeries who offer to do a smaller wedding cake with an additional sheet cake to feed the guests but it really doesn’t bring the cost down much.
Growing up my mom always used Weis cakes for birthdays, big events, etc. and we always received the greatest compliments so I’m interested in using them for my wedding!
I’m looking for advice from any bee’s who’ve used grocery store wedding cakes for their wedding (specifically Weis or Wegmans). I’ve seen some things online that they do customized wedding cakes but I can’t seem to get much more information so any input would be greatly appreciated!

I am ordering 6 Whole Foods Berries and Cream Cakes for 45 people. They are my favorite cake, so I thought why not? The restaurant will place them at the center of each table when the time comes. That cost about $120 in total. Restaurant had cake stands for us to use, so that was even better!

weddingventing : Ooo I didn’t even consider Whole Foods. That’s great, you know what you like so why not use it and save money in the process!

trace107 : The one thing that always stuck with me with respect to beautiful “traditional” wedding cakes is that they often don’t taste very good, either because they are bland or because they had to have a certain structure/dryness to hold up everything. I also am not a fan of the whole “sheet cake” in the back to save money tradition.
It was very important for me to get the taste right, not the look. The cake I picked is delicious – fluffy, moist, light, and just the right amount of sweetness.

Another fan of Nothing Bundt Cakes! 😄 I’m usually not a cake person and agree with theotherbride, traditional cakes aren’t very tasty in my experience. But this place is really good. We’re getting about 10 dozen bundtinis, six different flavors and one small cutting cake for $238. Taste is priority for us.

pepper318 : I originally didn’t want to go the cupcake route because I wanted to do the whole cake cutting thing but why can’t I just do both! I love that. Plus you can do a bunch of different flavors of cupcakes. You all are opening my mind, thank you!
