Our grocery stores flowers are a bit overpriced.  I have ended up asking a wholesale florist to purchase the flowers for me but I will arrange them myself.  It works out cheaper per stem this way and I can get them in my colour 🙂

I’m getting mine from costco. If you go on their website and search for bulk flowers they’re pretty cheap and it includes shipping. Mine will be here tomorrow morning! So I’ll let you know how they look after I get them.

I got all of my flowers through whole foods. I knew I wanted real flowers as I have despised fake flowers since I was a child but I couldn’t see spending thousands on something that was going to die in 2 days.

My wedding was pretty small. We got 1 bridal bouquet, 2 bridesmaid bouquets, 3 bouts, all of my centerpiece flowers (for 7 tables) and a ton of baby’s breath for aisle decor for around $350.

The floral associate that I worked with at my particular store was great. I showed her photos of what I wanted and she ordered what she needed to make it happen. I knew specific flowers that I wanted for my centerpieces and she got all of them except for peonies which her supplier unfortunately did not have any more of by the time our wedding came around (they are very finicky flowers).

I will say my bouquets and flowers were pretty. Were they amazing, out of a magazine type floral arrangements? – No. But for $55 for a bouquet, I was very very pleased with how they turned out. I will try to upload some pics from my phone in another post.

mrsgttobe:  your flowers look beautiful and you have great taste!  Do you mind if I use your pictures for inspiration?  I’m definitely going to go the DIY route and I was considering using a wholesale website like fiftyflowers or bloomsbythebox but definitely going to check out whole foods as well!  Did they arrange the bouquets and boutonnieres for you?

I am getting mine from Sam’s Club but I have done some trial runs.

This is about 15 dollars worth of flowers from Albertsons. The colors are what I plan to do but not all the flowers.

loveisbrewing:  Sure I don’t mind at all. I’m glad you like them! I used whole foods specifically over ordering online because I have zero experience arranging flowers and I was scared to make my own bouquet. Whole foods made my bouquets and bouts and I bought the centerpiece flowers and baby breath and arranged those myself.

I don’t know what types of flowers you plan to use but the only flower that I had some issues with were the hydrangeas. They wilt/brown VERY fast. I did my trial run and they were out of water for MAX 2 hours and they wilted severely. My bouquet was made on Friday afternoon for my saturday evening wedding. It was kept in water and in the fridge and one of the hydrangeas still browned a bit (you can kind of see it in the photo I posted). It didn’t bother me terribly, I just kept that side of the bouquet towards my body and I don’t think it was noticeable.

mrsgttobe:  Great advice, thanks!  Yeah that was my worry too, I’m planning to do really simple rustic centerpieces so there’s not a lot of skill involved there but I was definitely worried about the bouquets, etc. It sounds like whole foods is pretty comparable in price so I’ll definitely check it out

I ordered the bouquets and corsages from an actual florist, but our centerpieces were all grocery store.  We just picked up what was available at a semi-local grocery and added a few things from the yard where we were staying (with permission).  The photographer didn’t really do reception pictures, but here are a couple I snapped before they were set out.
