Hi Bees,
I’m really thankful for the support I’ve gotten on here about Fiance pressuring me into my ring and the advice on resetting it. We’ve talked a lot and I ultimately want to keep the diamond (obviously) and Fiance says that’s what really matters to him. He’s changed his tune about me changing the setting to whatever I want but I’ve also come to see his side and decided I want to keep it a solitaire.
The two details I would like to change is to raise the setting a bit to sit flush with my future wedding band and make the prongs a bit more delicate.
Can you show me your high set rings? Carat weight would be appreciated as well. The jeweler told my Fiance that a 2 carat diamond should not be set high for “security” and I’d like to see if that’s true or not.
Thanks!

Really love my setting! It sits higher than normal but from the top it blends in really well.

Here is my high setting. Sits up 10mm from the finger and the stone (cushion cut) is just over 1c. I did have a more delicate setting but the center stone fell out because the prongs only held the diamond at one spot on the corner of cushion cut diamond. Well over time the diamond started to shift and then eventually fell out. My new setting is more sturday and the prongs now hold the diamond on both sides of the curved “corners” keeping it stable.

PS Sorry if the pics are so huge!

I have just over a carat and my coworker has pretty much the same setting with a 1.5 carat. I love it! I think high settings look classic!

Mine sits about 10mm up as well, I have a 2.2 carat Amora Gem, with very small and delicate double prongs.

I love my high set e-ring! This is my current e-ring, but my first e-ring was also high set and I NEVER had an issue with it. The only thing I ever had to do was get the prongs redone after I had worn it for over 18 years. I wouldn’t call that an issue though. I think most rings worn on a daily basis for that long would need some sort of prong maintenance.

1.65 carat center. Sits about 11.5mm off the finger. So it’s pretty high, but the fact that’s it’s cathedral keeps it looking balanced

The ring I have been designing for my gf sits about 8.5mm from the finger. Not as high as some on here but does sit up, and the center stone will be a 2.02 cushion diamond. My jewe did mention that too high or much higher could be an issue with the diamond being more easily smacked and come loose, but seems completely ok with going 8.5mm. Hope this helps, I put a picture of the CAD so can see th specs.

This was my previous e-ring before the reset. It was sitting high and my wedding band sat flush against it.

This is my new reset
