My future fiancé custom made me a ring with a very high setting. I’m wondering if any other wedding bees out there have high setting and the pros and cons you’ve run into. I’d love to see your pictures, especially side/profile pics of the ring! 🙂

i have a high setting. I love it. I bang it every now and then. I have a low halo band too that i bang about the same. It doesnt get caught on anything. You learn how to adjust your hand movements too account for higher setting.

For the longest time, I really admired the high cathedral setting and how much light passes through the stone. Unfortunately, I found this setting impractical for my lifestyle, especially when working around the house and caring for my kids. I’m also a kind of person who doesn’t like to take off my rings every time I cook, clean, etc. I decided to reset the ring in the picture into a similar but lower setting. I actually just dropped it off today at the jeweler’s… I don’t want to rain on your parade😊 I adore higher settings, but they just don’t work for me. I hope you will love your ring! Congrats on your upcoming engagement, it’s such an exciting time!

I have multiple rings both high and low set and I knock them equally. I’m just naturally clumsy lol. Here is my high set soltaire.

I don’t have an issue with my high setting I had a lower set before and I’m basically knocking them around the same. I love the look and profile of high settings.

Mine is super high setting but that’s what I asked for It’s just my taste.I wanted a different style setting. I rarely hit it on anything. I do everything with it,clean house, wash dishes etc..You will get use to it once you have been wearing it a while. The only one thing I find a challenge is when I wear gloves, But I solved that problem It’s either I just don’t wear any or just get a bigger size. Lol enjoy your ring. 😁

Mine sits pretty high off my finger, but the diamond itself is set pretty low in the basket.

My setting is pretty high. I have trouble putting on jackets or sweaters if I don’t turn it inside of my palm first. I’ve scratched my fiance in the face on accident before. And because it’s so high I don’t sleep with it on.

I’ve gotten used to it but when I first got engaged I got my ring snagged on things all the time!

I asked our jeweler for a high setting where I could see the whole diamond, he didn’t disappoint! Personally, one of the biggest pros for me is being able to admire the whole thing. I work a desk job though so I knew it wouldn’t get in the way of anything. The only con is sometimes little strings and hairs get stuck in the prongs but I think that might be a ring thing in general?
mrsv18 : I think we may be ring twins.. though your stone looks a little bigger lol

Mine has a high setting, but I tend to be overly aware of it since I’m very concerned about squashing it in my hand from carrying my violin case, opening doors, moving furniture, etc.
The higher setting hasn’t been at all what I’ve had to get used to. I make the claw hand to keep it from getting caught on sleeves. Same claw hand if you just did your nails and don’t want to fuck them up.
