midgy86 :  sorry for the delay in replying! I’ve got a 10 day old at home now. The counter is granite! I believe the name is white river, new white river. Something alone those lines!

feliciabbee :  we’re in the US, so cost wise it may be different. And my husband is the contractor, so our cost was significantly less because I didn’t have to pay GC costs (obviously we still paid our carpenters who work for us). But I’ll give you a breakdown of costs

Cabinets- Kraftmaid, $24k

Appliances- Samsung (their higher end line) $9k

Countertops & backsplash- $6k

Misc- (sink, faucet, cabinet hardware, lighting, etc) probably about another $3k

So about $42k ish in materials. My husband estimates that he would charge a client about $75-80k to do a similar project (the materials cost would be covered by him, not additional to that price)

This was such a fun feed! Just bought my first house so I’m excited about all things home right now. We don’t move til fall but this feed makes me so happy we chose what we did in the kitchen.

Ok so first of all, I feel very attacked with all of your large kitchens.

My Christmas gift last year from my Pops was a kitchen remodel before our baby came. My dad installed all the cabinets and did the backsplash, my husband stained them and painted the walls and a friend of ours installed the counter top. I picked out all the colors but otherwise supervised from a chair in the other room.

Wow! You all have some beautiful kitchens!

This post made me realize that I desperately need to take some updated kitchen photos! LOL. A few from the day I got my keys and moved in. I’ve changed out the kitchen faucet since then. Oh, found one with a messy kitchen but with the new faucet and some furniture but many things have changed since then. And I think I’m planning to dye the grout on the subway tile backsplash a grey color.

slomotion :

I know,  I know! Mine is remodelled and I posted it  quite proudly  but it is  so small by comparison with most of these gracious  spaces !

This is the kitchen of the house we are in escrow on.  We are hoping to be moving Memorial Day weekend!  We can’t wait…our current home has a very tiny kitchen.

Here’s mine 🙂

It hasn’t looked like this very often lately though!

There used to be a wall dividing the house from the tiled oven wall all the way past where I would have been standing taking this picture. We gutted it and completely changed the layout. I’m pretty happy with how the space worked out in the end.
