Falcor is a Great Pyrenees mix. He’s 6 years old and weighs about 90lbs and he’s 30 inches at the shoulders. He was an extremely social puppy, but then his gaurdian roots kicked in when he was about 2 years old. He’s extremely loving, but laidback, with family. He spends most of his time laying around and staring at the walls (I think he’s ghost watching.) But it does take him some times to warm up to new people. He’s not aggressive, just leery and standoffish.

Also, he thinks he’s a lap dog.

This is our puppy, Chloee, about an hour after we brought her home from the shelter!  When we rescued her my dear hubby said, “But what if she’s part mastiff or something?” (He was a little uneasy about the fact that she was a shepherd “mix.”)  I said, “Well…then we will love our mastiff and put in a bigger doggie door!”  As it turned out, the “mix” is heeler and she’s only about 40 pounds.  I posted here because I was READY to love a big dog, she just didn’t grow up to be one!

@Maggie89:  Oh my – when I saw your Odin I couldn’t believe how much he looked like our Chloee.  Then I read that he is a shepherd/heeler mix – just like her!  DOG TWINS! (Okay, she is a bit more red.)  She must have inherited all of the runt genes in those two breeds, because she’s staying little – under 40 pounds.  Excuse the horrible Christmas collar, she’d be really upset if she knew I’d posted such an embarrassing pic!

@chloees_mom:  Awwww they are dog twins!! Chloee is soo adorable, she really does look just like Odin! I wonder what traits they have in common from each breed? Does she try to herd you or nip at the backs of your ankles when you walk?

I can see a lot of red heeler in her also, so beautiful. I bet she is smart as a whip, tooWink

@Maggie89:  Yes – she’s smart and a crazy nipper!  She comes close to knocking me down every morning when we leave for work/doggie daycare.  I realized that I just commented on your lovely wedding band.  You’re a lucky lady, you’ve got a darling dog AND a beautiful wedding ring!  (I need to get a life and stop stalking the weddingbee boards!)

@chloees_mom:  Haha well thank you! Your dog is darling also, I would say you are equally as lucky or more!!

My best friend’s parents had a red heeler a long time ago and they said that they didn’t own a pair of sweatpants without holes around the ankles after her puppy stages. I asked them how to keep Odin from nipping and they laughed, lol.

They also told me that some cattle dogs herd by bumping up against things instead of nipping…I wonder if your Chloee does both? Or maybe she just almost knocks you down from excitement Smile

@Maggie89:  Chloee loves to bite! Thankfully, her baby teeth are gone and she doesn’t hurt us too often anymore!  I’ve never noticed her doing the bump thing, but she surprises us everyday with naughty behavior.  Her current obsession is dish towels – they can not be hanging across the oven door handle – she gently takes them off and puts them on the floor by her bed in the living room.  It’s super cute but I do wonder what is going on in her little brain!

This is Yukon Cornelius, our 80lb. Olde English Bulldogge! He’s a little over a year old and still thinks he’s a lapdog. He’s the love of my life and makes me laugh every day!

@chloees_mom:  That is cute, I wonder why she likes dish towels? Odin takes random things all of the time. He loves any kind of paper product, especially cardboard and toilet paper. He also has discovered our recycle bin and thinks it is a toy box.

My least favorite thing that he has made off with so far is a squeeze tube of Origins moisturizer. He punctured little holes in it…so thoughtful!

@Maggie89:  Oh dear, you’ll have to encourage the recycling bin/toy box thing, so he leaves the expensive beauty products alone!
