I’m getting ready to make the final decision on my non-traditional dress, for the first, very small, very odd sci-fi non-traditional wedding.
I’m pretty sure I am going with this one (in garnet).
I’m feeling nervous about it, about how I’ll feel on the day – because this is still the first wedding…
and I’d love to see your choices, and hear how you felt/ feel in them!
I do have a traditional one – here are some bad photos taken in my hallway, before alterations –

Wow i love the green one !!! I actually love it in green, it looks like something victorian or medieval. very elegant dramatic and unusual. My second fave would be the 2nd dress, fits you well and looks fab. The last one i am not sure about. You seem petite and the 2nd was more form fitting and flattering i thnk

Shinytoy : I believe the third dress is the second plus an overskirt.
ahsoka : Wear what makes you feel happy and special on your wedding day. Wear both if you want to!
I agree with PP that the white dress is more flattering without the extra skirt.

Shinytoy : thank you, bees! It’s the same dress with an overskirt. This is before any alterations. Thanks

I’m going w/ garnet because it’s our romantic color, he’s wearing it too and it fits the theme of our weird wedding.
I guess I’m just freaking out because this dress is waaaaay over my dress budget. It’s more than I’ve ever spent on anything, actually, except a car 😂😂
but as one bee said, life is short…
any more non-traditional dresses ?
I think I saw one bee’s a while back that was a cool blue ombré.

My engagement ring has a yellow diamond and I haven’t been able to get off the yellow, since! I had originally seen a full yellow wedding dress with a lace overlay on Etsy, but ended up going the two-piece route because of $$ and ease of ordering.

Wow the green dress is super cool!! Mine is traditional at first glance but it has a few layers of blue tulle inside 🙂

ahsoka : First of all: wow, the white dress looks gorgeous on you. Second of all, I love the green one! It’s very elven and classy

Ohh! I love this yellow on you! Beautiful. An odd aside: do you know about the author Shelley Adina? She’s also a “crazy chicken lady,” and there are chickens in her books :3 her steampunk series begins with A Lady of Devices. If you like adventure stories with some romance, I highly recommend it 🙂
missmollybee : ooooh that’s beautiful on you. I love the idea of a hidden blue layer. What fun

downonmulberry : thank you so much ❤️ I’m thinking I’ll come back and post photos when the garnet dress is complete.
I love the green so much too, but we’d look like Christmas If I wore that 😂😂

Is it the color or the style of dress that is concerning you? It sounds like your heart sings for the burgandy dress. I bought a traditional poofy dress, and it was pretty, but it wasn’t me. I had wanted a cape dress (couldn’t find one when I was shopping) so I had a seamstress make one for me .she actually cut apart a second one of my dress and turned it into the cape . It is almost done and I am thrilled!
I think it sounds like your burgundy dress is waht will make you happy.

I’m def getting some Lwaxana Troi vibes from that green dress (which fits the theme of your wedding!), I think it will be gorgeous in garnet!

crazychickenlady : This is almost exactly what I have in mind for my dress, with a different top, where did you get your skirt?

I wore a blue wedding dress. So I’m all about people being themselves and giving the middle finger to traditional white. Be who you are. No regrets!

ahsoka : Thank you! I love to read and I am always looking for something new!
tomandrachael : I got the skirt of Etsy, the seller was FloAtelier, the top was from Morning Lavender…
