mrsmay07 :  Thank you! I love your set! My mom thought I was crazy for wanting a band that didn’t “match” my e-ring, but I love a good mismatched set!

dawnadead :  Ahhhh, that’s smart. I was wearing my constantly so that was probably my issue. Black gold is beautiful, though, especially in person! Here is a comparison pic of mine before and after. I actually had an inverted cushion cut diamond, but it it caused a gap between the diamond and setting so we swapped the diamond for a princess cut when we had the black rhodium taken off. I love them both for different reasons. The black gold/black diamond combo got a lot of attention from strangers and the cushion cut had much more sparkle, but the white gold shows the detail of the band much better.

My cushion sapphire 🙂 Size 5.5, 9-10 mm. I wanted my birthstone… and I love the Diana/Kate ring. I am not a fan of diamonds. I think they are way too marked-up because of the DeBeers “monopoly.” I will probably get a moissy wedding band to add some sparkle 🙂

I LOVE those black diamond rings!

I really love anything non-traditional/alternative. I didn’t pick out my ring – my fiance and sister designed it together with a jeweler friend. I was all over the board with ring styles so they didn’t have much to go with but I love the outcome. Fiance actually mined the 4 sapphires in Montana. They’re fun and change colors depending on the light. We are still figuring out the band situation…the ring was designed slightly raised for two thin bands to slide right under. It gets pretty dirty underneath (can see the dirt in the second pic) since I work with horses and dogs and don’t take my ring off. At least it’s an easy clean!

SabL22 :  What a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind ring <3

@kittykatc : Thank you for inaugurating this thread.  There is such incredible variation in everyone’s rings, and I absolutely love your “after” ring.  So classic and elegant, yet still very unique!

I liked this vintage find for the color of the center – a natural, unheated sapphire – and for a “secret” mechanism by which the ring can turn into a pendant!

I have a square silver ring with no stone. I’ve read a lot about the history of engagement rings and know the diamond engagement ring was invented relatively recently by Debeers to get rid of a glut of diamonds when they had a monopoly (as they still come close to having) and know enough about the jewelry industry to know engagement style rings especially have no real resale value (a diamond is forever works as a slogan so you never find out its got no value if you try to sell it!) So it just seemed….silly to get sucked in by an advertising campaign, and more meaningful to me to use the money to travel and suchlike or for fun things in the wedding. The ring cost $50 and I love it.

Loved black diamonds when we got engaged but I didn’t want it as my main ring. Just added this to my collection.

I love this thread! Everyone’s rings are so special and beautiful. I went non-traditional for my e-ring too! Mine is a vintage 7-stone emerald cut band ring. I plan to pair it with a small platinum band for the wedding and likely a round-cut eternity band down the line (planning to reset my mom’s old misshapen one!).

I have a Montana sapphire solitaire una custom vining setting with two small white Montana sapphire accents in the vines. I designed it myself and love seeing the crazy color shifts in different light!

Here’s mine, it’s an opal center stone (my birthstone)  with diamond baguettes and sapphire triangles (his birthstone).  Not sure how I will fit a band with it.
