Ah thank you!!!! It’s an OMC then. A “real” (aka not new stone) antique cushion yes with the tiny hole 🙂
Thank you! It’s a 3.2ct OMC diamond. The stone and setting are from Jewels by Grace.
I’m big fan of old cut, OEC, ACC, OMC …. all of them. My next old cut will be antique pear. I’m eyeing one now but not yet to pull the trigger
Here is my OEC and OMC
My new 2.5 TCW (1.3ct center stone) Old European Cut Diamond E-Ring has arrived! My fiance bought the diamonds in an old ring, and designed a one-off cluster engagement ring, symbolic of our relationship.
She has now arrived after 7 weeks of waiting. We’re over the moon!
She arrived with several surprises too:
Surprise #1 I had no real idea how sparkly Old European Cut Diamond actually are. I had accepted that my ring may not sparkle like a modern round cut; that’s what is written all over the internet/ How WRONG I was! The jeweller said the stones had been cleaned when my ring was being made in platinum, and wow! In all kinds of light (but especially in low light) my ring sparkles like the fire bal!!
Surprise #2 The ring looks so beautiful in its new delicate platinum setting and our design refinements. I love the tiny round claws, and how the stones now look like they are floating on my finger, wrapping round it so gently. She’s such a pleasure to look at.
Surprise #3 In the original ring, the central stone was estimated at 0.97ct and TCW as 1.97.
Well, her central stone weighs in at a whooping 1.29ct, so **0.33 more**! I thought so looking at it, but was super happy when it was confirmed!
I now have a dream engagement ring! I’m not a traditionalist in any way, and with size 8.5 finger, a solitaire wouldn’t give much coverage on my finger, and halos and trilogy rings aren’t my style. My Engagement Ring is unique to me with lively antique diamonds and is a stylish one-of-a-kind piece (important as we are both designers!). So pleased we’ve designed a beautiful symbolic reminder of the love shared with my future husband:
So, I feel fortunate to have found the original diamond-doner ring and be drawn into the beautiful world of OEC’s.
So here’s are some photos of her. I know I need to improve on my photography, so please be gentle! It’s a pretty grey day on London, so even though the stones face up sparkly & white, they look much darker. Also noticed they reflect the back of my phone, which is black! So These photos do not do her justice… Dont know why this app is uploading the images sideways
These below were taken in front of my Old European Cut Diamond print I bought when I was getting impatient waiting for the real one to arrive!
