Hey bees!! Long time lurker, first time poster. My SO and I have been together almost a year and I am absolutely sure he is the man of my dreams. We’ve been talking about marriage from the beginning but decided to take our time. I told him the other day that I am still not quite ready for an engagement and he said that was fine to but put some thought into rings. I should probably say I was married before, he was abusive and a serial cheater, and pretty much everything in the marriage was a let down including my proposal in which he threw a ring down on the table while I was eating Taco Bell and said “so yes or no?” And then before I answered grabbed the remote, told me my show was stupid, and changed the channel. SO knows this and has told me multiple times he wants me to have my dream ring. Problem is, I don’t know what that is!! I have been on the blue nile app where it lets you “try on” rings and I’m currently drooling over 3 rings. .80 round in an east west solitaire setting, a .90 princess cut on pave band and a 1.00 ct pear in a halo. But for some reason I keep going back to the pear but I worry it won’t look like an engagement ring. So show me your pears?! Preferably .80-1.00 in a halo on a size 5.5 but ALL other are welcome too. Obviously I’m not entirely sure what I want.

An engagement ring is a symbol of your relationship and can be whatever you want it to be. There are lplenty of bees who have rings that unique and beautiful rings that don’t fit what most would consider a “normal” engagement ring. Go with what makes you happy. That said, I 100% recommend going to a store and trying some on. The ring I fell in love with and got was not the ring I would have chosen out of a catalog. Congrats on finding a wonderful man!

My specs are way off what you asked & I know there are a lot of bees with halo pears that will be able to help you out more but here’s my .66 pear solitaire on size 8. Congrats, & good luck to finding your dream ring!

Check out this thread:
@Pairmypear84 has the most beautiful ring EVER! It will make you choose pear for sure! I used to think pears were tacky until I saw real photos of them on the bee, now I would get one for sure! They are beautiful and look bigger than their actual ct weight! A 1 ct pear plus a halo will look huge! Go for it!

My centre stone is 0.74ct and I’m a size 5. I love pears <3

MrsCC: Gorgous! I like pear halos, but it is such a stunning shape all on its own. I think pears look fab as a solitaire.
I’m following this thread just so I can drool over all the pear blingage

Navygirl14: first of all, congrats on an upcoming proposal! I know how amazing it feels to be going from an abusive relationship to someone who shows you what love is every single day – it’s so refreshing!
My ring is not a pear, but I am a 5.5 finger to give you some perspective. The ring is a platinum setting .70 emerald cut diamond VS1 I with a split shank and double halo, total carat weight of 1.23

Squirrelz15: thank you so much! You’re right it doesn’t really matter as long as I love it.
Summ3ra I would have guessed your ring was over a ct for Sure. Do you think that you get more for your money with a pear? They seem to look so much bigger.
MrsCC: oh wow!! I definitely don’t want a carat. Your ring is gorgeous and it looks so big!! You’re making me consider a pear sans halo.
Zelda1: can I ask the specs on your ring? It’s beautiful.

Navygirl14: thank you! I think you should go try some on in different carat weights. They don’t always have to be over a carat to look substantial. Especially with your smaller fingers you could get away with a smaller carat weight & still have the look you want. Pears do look bigger than other shapes I think.
