futuremrsferrell :  I can’t remember exactly, but I want to say $400 and fed 100-120? We had a ton left over in addition to our top tier.

younikkitome :  We had vanilla with fresh strawberry, chocolate with chocolate pudding, red velvet with cream cheese, and marble with german chocolate filling.  Buttercream frosting on the outside!

We did a vanilla naked cake and desserts from Whole Foods. There was also a pie and a key lime sheet cake. Total was about $150 for everything and it feed 48 people.

We went and talked to a Publix designer this weekend.  She let us put together cake sizes to make my 4 tier that could feed about 120 people (since not everyone will eat cake).  The price was a lot better than their standard sizes, 75-100 was $350 and 150-175 was $550.  They completely skipped an entire section and the price jumped $200!  The price we were quoted for the custom size was right in the middle so much better in price.  She of course told us, that we would have to bring in our own ribbon or detailing and that it would be a $30 charge to deliver within 10 miles of store or we can pick it up.

I really didn’t trust having someone pick up the cake, especially if it didn’t come assembled, which the designer said is possible.  We decided to just go to a Publix closer to our venue and work with them.  This may be better since we are getting married near the beach so we assume the Publix in that area has a lot more experience in wedding cakes.

futuremrsferrell :  Do you know how much time Publix needs? There is a Publix in Key West we’d like to use, but wondering if we can go in and order a week before wedding or do they need more time?

mrscbb82 :  I would contact the Key West one directly as I think it does more weddings than most and may need a different amount of lead time.

We got our cake at Albertson’s. We had a tiered one for the reception and for us to cut and take photos and then we got an additional sheet cake so that we could feed our 180 guests. In total I believe we paid about $350 for everything including delivery. It was red velvet with buttercream icing. Really yummy. Price might have gone up, our wedding was a few years back.

This is a photo of the display cake they had at the grocery store when we ordered it. We just modified a few things of the design for ours. albertsonscake

mrscbb82 :  Sorry I don’t remember exactly.  All that I know is that they told us we had to have it paid 2 weeks in advance.  We just placed our order yesterday, a little more than 2 months out, but were told we had time to make changes.  We also used a very popular Publix right on the beach on Treasure Island.

We did 4 tiers to feed 130-140 not including our top layer and it came to about $560.
