New bee here. I’ve been stalking for a few months though..haha.
Anyhow this is my second engagement. Had a solitair my first time, .75 ct yellow gold with white gold prongs. No idea how much my ex paid. Forget the specks on it now but he went on and on about quality vs quantity….In all honesty it wasn’t my type of ring. I had nothing to do with picking it out. I have small ugly wrinkly hands and found a solitair with a slim band made my wrinkly hands more prominent.
The bf (now Fi. .hahaha just last Sunday! ) had told me he was saving for a ring. I started looking and fell in love with moissy. He didn’t want to listen too me. He wanted to have a ring designed, I don’t see the point when there are already so many out there that are pretty. I don’t see the point in spending so much for a big diamond either when I love all colours of gem stones and would still love a nice moissy. He still wants diamond as if he thinks the more he spends proves something or a diamond is more “real”.
Anyhow I’m always looking at Craigslist and kijiji and such and saw an extremely cheap set…I mean super cheap..haha .50 tcw. . $150. I showed him and said here…just get that and it can be the “for now” and we can upgrade later. (And the I can pick out what I want..hahaha) and I’m a sucker for a bargain.
So he went and got it. It’s actually really pretty. Much prettier than I expected and I sort of really just like it now. I told him..you know maybe I just want this one! He doesn’t believe me but I can tell you I’m in no rush now to find the “perfect ring”. I’m just happy he got me one (and listened to me and didn’t spend a fortune or put us in debt..and its only been a week that we’ve been engaged so I’m just living in the moment hahah).
It’s .50 tcw with a .20 middle and two sides and more running down the sides. Set in a bevel setting. White gold. Had it checked by my jeweller he said it’s worth about $1200. I say great deal! Size 4.5 finger.
