My ring is 14 yrs old but it is a platinum 1.0 ct center stone and .25 ct each side stone G/vvs1, we paid about $8k for it in 2001 And it appraises for $11500. I originally didn’t want a wedding band but decided to add one since I work as an operating room nurse and don’t want to risk losing my ering. So the band I wear to work and it is a platinum half eternity band .63 ct I/vs2 and we just bought it at costco for $999, which my jeweler said He couldn’t even sell us the diamonds for that much so it was a great deal. I also got a rose gold 1.5mm band to stack with the half eternity band at adiamor for $190.

We just got engaged in November 2014. My fiance picked this ring out all on his own. It is a GIA triple Excellent (Cut, Polish, Symmetry) Ideal cut, VVS2 clarity, I color, 1.3 ct center stone. The setting is 14K white gold with another 1 ct in the setting which has diamonds that taper in size to a half eternity and pave on the sides. It is a raised cathedral setting and my size is about 4.5. We paid 10K-12K and it appraised for over 20K… We did not finance, which I am very thankful that we are blessed enough that we were able to pay for it outright. I will be making two custom bands that match my current ring for our wedding in July 2015. 🙂 It sparkles like crazy and I can’t help but stare at it.

Mine is a 1ct round diamond ring with about .2ct of diamonds (can’t remember for sure) in the band of the ring and in the setting of the ring. My fiance paid about $7k for this in 2012.

My DH and I were actually not well off when we discused getting married and we both had been married before so there was no REAL engagement ring. So we got our bands when we married and my diamond band was my dream band, white gold with 1.5 TCW diamonds. I got it from Pompeii jewelry on eBay for $350! Then at our third anniversary I got my “engagement” ring! It is white gold with a .75 ct D color VS1 clarity ideal cut with .50 tcw in the pave band. We found it on eBay also and won it for only $500!!! It was bought for someone but never given and he just wanted to sell. I LOVE it! BUT… I LOVE the Tiffany Soleste double cushion halo so my DH is getting a double cushion halo put on it this year for our anniversary and I am soooo flipping excited!! And the custom work is only going to be about $2,000! So we have only paid about $3,000 for my DREAM SET!!!

I absolutely loved going through this entire thread looking at all of the rings and the different prices! Amazing rings, everyone. 🙂 Mine is on the more budget friendly side so I figured I should bump an old thread and add it.
It is .53 carat, H color, SI1 clarity, 14k white gold band. $400 second hand on EBay. My wedding band is .25 carat, G color, SI2 clarity, 14k rose gold. $259 brand new from a jeweler who is listed on EBay and Etsy. So in total they cost $659 and I absolutely love them!

Sweet.Sugar.Rose: I love your rings too. The bands go really well as a mixed matched pair especially.
My ring specs are antique platinum ring. Old mine cut centre 2.4ct. Side baguettes 0.3. Colour I. Clarity vs. regarding its value, it’s about £12,000 so I think that’s about 18.5k American dollars. My Fiance did a deal on it for cash though and I wasn’t party to those conversations so I’m not sure what he paid
you DEFINATELY get a lot more for your money if you buy diamonds second hand in the UK. He was going to buy a diamond from America as you get much more value that way too, but he stumbled across this one in the UK and went for it.

I’m not too sure about the specs of my ring as they’re written down and stored ‘somewhere safe’ right now, but I believe the stones are just under 1 carat each, and it is set in 18ct white gold. This was my grandma’s ring but we redesigned from platinum to white gold and lowered the setting (and it had to be resized from an ‘R’ to a ‘G’!), so that it almost looks like one continuous stone/sparkle, whereas before the stones were quite far apart. It has been valued at around £5000, so around $7700. I love it, and even though the diamonds are 40-50 years old, they sparkle unlike any other ring we had a look at ☺
