rubysky726 :  my finger is a little bigger but I have the setting you’re looking for. This is just under 1 1/2 on a 5.5 . I think all sizes look great in this setting- just go for a stone with excellent cut/polish/symmetry and it will be glorious.

rubysky726 :  .80 carat on 4.5 (well evidently a bit more than 4.5 on this very hot day!)

0.6ct on a size 4.5 🙂 I think anywhere from 0.5-1ct is a perfect size diamond for that sized finger! 🙂

rubysky726 :  do you have a set budget? What are your thoughts on colour in diamonds?  I say decide those two things then get the biggest eye clean one you can within those parameters – and – this is important, with good light return. The folks at pricescope will help you with that if you post on the forum there. There’s no point getting a big but rubbishy big diamond in my opinion.

generally bees seems to regret too small, rarely too big. Unless you have particular practical reasons to keep a smaller stone (and setting plays a role in practicality too), then go bigger while keeping an eye on your chosen quality parameters. Diamond shrinkage is real.
