So people are probably sick of my ring by now, but meh, whatevs. I love these threads ^_^
Might add my wedding band as well. I had to try it on…you know to make sure it fit even if I choose to wear them together the set is well under one carat. I have size 9 fingers and love my dainty rings (though when my grandma saw the engagement ring for the first time she was shocked at the size (young people these days and their extravagant tastes)
anewlink: I am sorry to hear you were initially disappointed and even more so that you are afraid of judgement . I have to say I really dig the deco styling of your ring. I think the setting, especially the geometric interest gives it a real presence on your finger, it has character. It isn’t over or understated, it is just right and looks, well, perfect. Not all rings are about a single rock, some people obsess over one diamond but I am all about the overall ring, because that’s what you’re wearing in the end!
This is my ring, someone commented that it was tiny and when I show it to anyone the usual response is that “it’s pretty”, I’ve even had someone call it cute! the center is a .55 ct and with the band it’s just over 1 ct twt. I loved it at first but now I’m just obsessing over it and wondering if it’s to small For my size 6 finger. Its a georgous ring and sparkles beautifully.
sandra521: Your ring is beautiful and classic! A size 6 finger is not big by any means so your stone size looks very proportionate to your hand. Your diamond is super bright too! Don’t let people make you feel insecure or self-conscious about your ring. They’re not wearing it and it wasn’t chosen for them. I’ll repeat what I said in my first post on this thread cuz I really mean and believe it: Some people feel the need to knock others down to make themselves feel better! But all that really means is they’re more insecure than they’re willing to admit.
soon2bhitched: Did they take your stone out hte setting and weigh it? Or did they just measure it to get the carat size? I know it’s not a big deal, but just wanted to share that I went to two different appraisers and one said mine was .9 and another said it was .8 (this is what ended up on my insurance). My ring’s an heirloom and I found out after the appraisals from the original owner that it’s actually .85. So it can definitely vary unless they weighed it.
Also, your ring is gorgeous! I love my ring but if I had to choose, I’d get a princess cut.
sandra521: I love your ring! I think the “pretty” and “cute” comments are that people have preconceived notions of what an e-ring is “supposed” to look like. My original e-ring had three stones about .1 each. We didn’t want to spend a lot of money, but I also fell in love with the design from a local designer. I got a LOT of “dainty” comments. One woman even asked if I was engaged because she couldn’t tell if it was an e-ring though it was on my left ring finger.
I wear it as a RHR now because I received an heirloom e-ring. Funny thing is, I receive more comments on my original e-ring now that I wear it as a RHR — people think it’s beautiful when they don’t think it’s my engagement ring! It’s just not what they think an e-ring is “supposed” to be. So silly.
Copo317: thanks! He actually proposed with just the diamond! We also picked the design together. He didn’t like my original choice (megan thorne design), so we kept looking, and when I found this design, I fell in love, and he loves it too! so we had it custom made, with a little bit of changes compared to the original design. He likes the halo look better too! Beautiful ring btw!
Mines a .51
My solitaire is .69. The bands put it well over 1 ctw so we won’t count those.
