Show me your Round Solitaire in a Cathedral Setting! With or w/o wedding band

The band on my engagement ring is a high domed shape and the gem is set in a low six prong setting. The prongs are spaced like a hexagon rather than a star which helps with bands. I found that a medium weight D Shaped wedding band fits nicely juuust under where the prongs begin to shape.

My stunt ring is the tiffany deep prong shape and theres a gap with that but only a small one.

I find it a bit silly that the iconic engagement ring profile fits so badly with wedding bands.

Here’s mine 🙂 I love the cathedral setting.  The side view is so pretty and I love my little “surprise diamonds”   Solitaires are so classic 🙂

@mizmaz:  It’s slightly curve on the top, flat on the inside and quite low set 🙂

Mine does have diamonds on the band, but I actually love the cathedral setting. Mine’s a little lower, but looking at it from the top, you can’t even tell it’s cathedral. Nearly all of my friends have just a classic setting, so I love that mine is a little different but still timeless (IMO). And I know there is a matching band to my ring that will sit flush against it. I just haven’t purchased it yet.

ETA – Sorry for the GIANT photos!!

@mizmaz:  Girl, I didn’t even specify metal type of band, carat size, or cut of diamond.. but what I DID specify that I wanted was a cathedral setting!  I LOVE how the profile of cathedral-set rings looks like..!

I’ve always loved cathedral settings. They’re so elegant and showcases the diamond in a beautiful way. Verragio makes some amazing intricate ones. Mine’s in a simple completely pave cathedral that my FI designed:

or you can do a slight cathedral like a friend of mine:
