Hi ladies! My fiance and I are planning a budget wedding with around 150 guests and we definitely want to find a TASTY wedding cake for around $200-300. I am interested in getting a cake made at Sam’s Club, Costco, Whole Foods, Kroger, etc. but I haven’t been able to find many photos. I’m mostly concerned they won’t be able to create a good looking cake. Thank you!

Bumping this. I’d love to see some supermarket cakes.

Mine came from a Publix supermarket.
I started with a “Blossoming Romance” cake from Publix without the usual cherry blossom ornamentation. It was smooth buttercream icing. Our tiers were raspberry (top), rum pecan (middle) and german chocolate (bottom). The cake was either 72 or 78 servings and was ~$225 at the Publix in Johns Island, SC. I bought air plants (bromelaids) from Amazon.com and the fresh floral around the base was from Sam’s Club. Here is a photo (photo credit: tesarphoto.com).

We had a small cake and cupcakes from Marianos- an upscale grocery store. It was like a quarter of the price of any bakery (we went to pretty much every one), and I think they did a great job). The only difference is that most of these places only work in buttercream, but fondant is supposed to taste disgusting anyway

Wow! I love the air plants and flowers around the base. That does NOT look like a budget cake. So savvy.

Oh I want to see Sam’s Club cakes! We would ahve gone with them if we hadn’t found a really awesome and reasonable home baker!

Thank you! Below was my “inspiration cake” but a finger totally made it into the bottom of the cake while sitting it onto the cake stand and I had to improvise w/ the flowers to cover it up. hahaha
