You will find the one, I promise! I am in the process of losing weight as well and was dreading dress shopping, but when I put on the one, I felt sooo beautiful. It’s all about finding the right silhouette for you, to accentuate your favorite parts πŸ™‚

Size 16 dress, size 12 street. Having mine altered to be off the shoulder though. No frets. You will look beautiful the weight you are now!

When you find the right dress it won’t matter what size you are. I would just call around find out which stores have dresses in your size to try on. Be open to trying on lots of different dresses. You may be surprised at what you end up liking. Where some spanx or some type of shapewhere and a good bra. Consider a bustier it really made a difference in how I looked in dresses then just only a strapless bra.

whiteheadtobe :  I am a street size 14 and 16/18 in wedding dress sizes.

This is a 16, which was great as i didnt have to alter it on the top. But i bought it so far out and it was a smaller fit, so i was terrified it would not lace up when i went to get it altered. I did not lose the weight i wanted to, maybe 10 lbs ?

Some pics i cringe at (bad angle) but overall i loved the way i felt and i love the pics. Find a dress that you feel beautiful in NOW. If you lose weight, great – get it altered. But find something you love at any size πŸ™‚

and corsets backs are a god send! Gives a great shape.

Bought my dress in a US 16 (the picture here is me in a US 14 and is a bit small). Like you, I always thought I wanted to lose weight before trying on dresses and ‘needed’ to before getting married. But I liked my dress so much that I actually feel comfortable and confident in it as I am now πŸ™‚

This my dress, in a size 14 (in most dresses I had to go up to size 16 though). I had a few that did show off too much of my tummy but there were so many others that were flattering, just pick the right fabric and a dress with good structure and you’ll be fine 😊
