My idea was to spend around $2,000-$2,500(my mom is paying for my dress), but my Fiance said that if I found something over that that I love then he would pay the difference (God love him) so I had been to about 5 different stores and tried on what felt like a million different dresses (was honestly at least 20 something) and this was the LAST dress I tried on and I fell in love…however it was over my budget by about $1200 but I just HAD to get it! It’s Watters Ingrid and it’s perfect for me 🙂

Mine was definately a splurge – I started my budget at $2000, then upped it to $3900 but still hadnt found anything I loved until this Lazaro:

Dress $4900; Veil $300; Vera Sash $500 so $5700 before alterations! Aggghhh… I insisted on paying for it myself so no regrets or guilt.

My parents and I split the cost because I really wanted something special. Here’s mine – Vera Wang Jane – $4900

Well, no pix yet but I thought I would spend $3K max which I first bought one was that price however I had dress regret so I went back to shoppping and fell in love with another dress that I bought for $6,800 with no alterations and accessories yet so overall so far, I spent like $10K.  Crazy I know….*sigh*

I had a custom gown made but purchased it (i.e. paid for it…it didn’t exist yet because we were designing it) at a trunk show. So I (my parents) got 15% off. So we actually ended up coming in slightly under on the gown itself. I then ended up also buy a short jenny yoo wedding gown for my rehearsal dinner. I think when all is said and done, including alterations, headpiece, veil, undergarments (but not shoes or jewelry), it will end up being between 8000-8500ish? My gown was really important to me – I really wanted what I wanted for this once in a lifetime event.

Edit: first fitting is next week, so no pics yet!

Dress was over $7000 with tax. Budget was as little as possible, but in reality I knew there was no way I wasn’t going to end up with a designer dress. 😀

You guys, this thread is making me feel quite a bit better about my splurge.

My original dress budget was max $2500 with alterations.

I ended up spending around $4800 (counting the $250 I lost on the first dress I put a deposit down on which, incidentally, was perfectly below budget and which I ended up hating and dreading).

Yeaaaaah.

But…I do love my dress like nobody’s business and I can’t wait to wear it. (I also can’t wait to see it when it actually fits me!)
