my tiffany wedding set

Both my solitaire ( .51ct., color G, clarity VS1. on a size 8,5 finger) and my wedding band (6mm lucida) are yellow gold and from Tiffany. I wear the band on the right hand’s ring finger, as that is what is usually done in Germany. I used to wear the engagement with it, but I have been wearing them separately for a couple months now, and prefer it this way.

kaleidos :  I just have to say it looks beautiful, I would have never thought it was a “smaller” stone, it fits your finger perfectly and I love it with the knife edge wedding band!

Okay ladies help me out–I’ve decided the style of engagement ring I want is the classic Tiffany round solitaire in the new rose gold for the 130th anniversary (does anyone have one?? just came out last month!). When I put it on, I just knew it was the ring! My dilemma is I can get the same ring (without Tiffany’s name) from a well-known Dallas third generation jeweler in a 1.6 for the same price, compared to a 1 carat at Tiffany’s. Do I get Tiffany’s or a bigger rock? I will say ALL of this rings on this thread appear bigger than their specs. I’m afraid if I get the bigger ring the setting will not be as perfect as Tiffany’s. ๐Ÿ™ Any advice? Regrets over getting TIffany’s or going for a bigger rock not Tiffany’s?

dallastx2017 :  I think what you’re buying when you buy Tiffany is the name and their guarantee for hand-picked, conflict-free diamonds.

If you want a bigger size for the same prize or less, how about a Tiffany setting moissanite?

dallastx2017 :  Well theres no denying that you can get a bigger ring elsewhere so if its size youre after above all, then go to your local jeweller. I dont have regrets but I didnt want a larger ring. He/I wanted ~1.5 and thats what I got. If I had wanted 2 carats we wouldnt have gone through Tiffany because it wasnt in the budget. When I plug my stats into JA or BN we paid 3k more… that was worth it to us for the setting alone, to see it in person, and to have T&C service for a lifetime! And it is fun going there for cleanings, and “check ups” etc. My Fiance was too nervous to go through the diamond district or the web anyway so its a moot point.

The rose gold is sooooo pretty ๐Ÿ™‚ Also I doubt youre comparing apples to apples with the 1 carat and 1.6… are the stats exactly the same? Whats the certication on the 1.6? Ultimately whether its worth it or not is a personal thing!

And for fun, my set (again) with my wedding day “something blue” T&C aquamarine Elsa Perreti ring. Been wearing them all together recently!

I have a Tiffany setting 0.21ct in platinum. F, VVS2, brilliant, ex ex ex. When I put the details into JA or BN we only paid about £100 more. Definitely worth it. I’m in the UK though and the exchange rate is horrible right now after Brexit. I wanted a tiny stone and it definitely looks a lot bigger than I thought that would. I love it so much. It was considerably under budget for us, but I definitely didn’t want anything bigger. It was the right choice.

MrsBuesleBee :  I love your Color by the Yard! So cute. I’m trying to work out if I should treat myself to one.

BubblesandCupcakes :  I love it, it is so well cut- very sparkly! I want the diamond one now too for my pinky but can’t decide if that’d be too much going on. I think they make a pink one too!

MrsBuesleBee :  It’s beautiful and I want them all! I have the diamond necklace but I want the ring too. I think I’m going to get the aquamarine first, the colour is dreamy. I think the diamond would look pretty on your pinky! Would you wear it on your right hand though? That’s an option if you get it and don’t like it. Or you could just rock up to a Tiffany store and play ๐Ÿ™‚
