@saldanha84: Just curious, why do some Bees hate Tiffany’s? To each her own, right?
@saldanha84: Just curious, why do some Bees hate Tiffany’s? To each her own, right?
I have always loved Tiffany. I don’t mind paying extra to have the prestige of the brand (plus everything that goes along with it like their excellent customer service). My SO wants me to have a Tiffany ring. I was considering getting a larger diamond for the same price from Blue Nile (I like them too!) but I fell in love w. the Tiffany Soleste setting… I haven’t found anything that is as nice even if it’s similar.
I just wanted to chime in! I don’t necessarily “hate” Tiffanys, but for me, it was a financial issue.
I’ve always loved the Tiffany flower engagement ring, but there’s no way, ever, that my Fiance and I could have afforded a $4,500 ring (.60ct). So we chose to go to a local jeweler and have a replica made, (in white gold, not platinum,) because it was more affordable ($1,500, for 0.75ct).
I would have loved a Tiffany ring, but I got the same exact thing for less. So I’m a happy girl. ๐
I just had to chime in because I also love the Soleste and nearly drove myself crazing searching different jewelry stores to find something comparable. It doesn’t exist in an of the chains here in Vamcouver where I am, the closest I got was a setting at Ann Louise that had a gemstone in it, which I wanted to order and get a diamond placed in the centre. They were so unhelpful, and kept pushing this other (uglier) double halo semi mount on me that would fit a brilliant round. They were blatantly not listening to my cries of “I want a cushion cut, I want the other setting!”
In the end I’m going to a jeweller who’s a family friend who’s giving me a phenomenal deal. My ring is modelled after the soleste and instead of a .25ct centre stone I would have paid at Tiffany, I’m getting a 1ct. for an equivalent price in 19k white gold. I know how hard it is to go to store after store trying on ring after ring and ultimately sighing “it’s ok, but I don’t love it.” Just wanted to let you know there’s another way to go about getting the look of the Soleste.
My ring will be done in about 3 weeks and I can’t wait to post on the bee when I get it ๐
