Hey Bees! I am very near saying yes to the dress, and one thing that I’ve definitely decided in my weeks of dress-trying is that I prefer a tighter style on me. Right now, I’m leaning towards this dress:
I’ve already tried it on and I’m going back next weekend for one last try before I put down a deposit.
Thing is – I initially wanted nothing to do with a veil. I thought it was too traditional for me. But while trying on dresses my mother insisted I try at least one on and turns out I don’t know myself at all! I loved it! I especially love long veils (at least floor length with a small train!), but I haven’t seen too many with tighter dress styles. I’m hoping to have a clearer idea of what kind of veil I want when I go for this final try. The veil I tried on in the store was long but very simple – no embellishments. My mom wants me to look into something with a lace edging.
I would love to see any tighter dress/long veil combos you bees wore (or are planning to wear!) for inspiration!

You sound just like me! I was adamant that I didn’t want a veil until I put one on and loved it! I went for a single tier full length raw edged veil in the end (I didn’t like having anything around my face) and wore it most of the day.
My dress had a key hole back and was embellished so I didn’t want to take too much away from the dress hence kept it rather simple with the veil – although the combe did have embellishments on it to match my dress. I had pictures taken with and without the veil so best of both worlds.
People did stand on it though! My sister/bridesmaid ripped it out of my hair right after the ceremony and it never quite went back in right but I still loved it.
For reference my dress was the Lillian West 6340:

Following this thread! I think I have found my people. I bought a sheath dress and was blown away when a chapel length raw edge veil was put on my head. I wasn’t sure I wanted one… I figured the longest I would go would be fingertip but now I’m torn between chapel, cathedral or custom 88″ to fit my little train.
I’ve been looking at pictured where the veil is waaaaaaaay longer than the back of the dress and I think I’m about to fo full Rapunzel.

kitkat183 – You looked amazing! Also, you look eerily similar to the model in my dress photo! Thank you so much for sharing 🙂
bellsprout Do you have any photos of your dress with potential veils?? Your rapunzel line had me actually laughing out loud!

I was allllll about the tight dress and long veil. I love the look!
I don’t have any pics of the ceremony on my phone yet (whhhyyyyy!?!) but here’s a pro pic where you can see the look.
I love that dress you’ve chosen by the way!

I recently purchased a sheath dress and didn’t love the kind of veil that was skimming my shoulders. I never thought to look into LONG veils. My train is super flowy and pretty, and I now wonder what that would look like trailing behind me with a veil.

My dress is fitted (typical strapless mermaid), and I plan to wear a chapel length drop veil! My photo doesn’t have the dress altered and I’m holding it up 😉

I LOVE tight dresses with long veils! My dress had some flare on the bottom so it wasn’t a sheath, but it’s a similar enough look. I’m disappointed I didn’t get a better veil shot though …. most of our photos were from about the knees up and didn’t show the full effect. Oh well 🙂

You know, I didn’t think I even liked veils then I changed my mind at the last minute and ordered a cheap one from lightinthebox.com. I’m so glad I did!
This is one of my favorite shots, it’s mostly of my flower girls but I love the way it shows off the rhinestone details.

+1 I was 100% like – ew veils no no no that’s so not me blah blah. Then I went dress shopping and fell in love with a super simple sheath that I never expected to like and had a long veil stuck in my head and couldn’t forget it. Needless to say wearing a veil won and I loved it 🙂

I have looked on line (quite a lot) for pictures of my dress and this beautiful bride seems to be the only one I can find who opted to wear a veil:
Part of me wishes I had taken pictures of me in my dress when I bought it but knowing that I would spend 9 months staring at a potentially crappy photo on my phone made me decide not to. No dodgy pics to give me any dress regret 😀 That will all change when I have my first fitting though.

similar dress style, different veil just as an option 🙂 bought mine today

Hi there! Wore a lace sheath dress, and I wore a long veil my stepmom made with scalloped lace edging the bottom. First pic is of when I first tried on the dress with a similar veil and fell in love with it. Second pic is with the handmade veil from the day I married the man I fell in love with.
Sorry the second one is so massive! Took me a couple tries to even get it on here like that.
GO LONG VEIL!
