Alterations are what will kill you btw. they run anywhere from $200-500 so beware and budget for this.

For my dress and alterations I paid $900.00 which was what I expected to pay just for the dress. It is for sale for $500.00 btw. I also made my veil for $20.00 (retail is $80-100)

I got my dress for $500 & it was a sample dress. I haven’t had alterations yet, but I just need the straps adjusted and a bustle, so I can’t imagine it being that expensive.

@lisha_1988:  Us Aussie girls have a tough time of it! I fell in love with my Maggie Sottero gown, $900 in the US… $2100 here. Argh! I found in a country store for $1900 and that’s without any alterations even! So much for my under $1000 dress.

A discontinued Anjolique/Benjamin Roberts that just happened to be in my size and fit pretty well.  Cost $720 with tax, no alterations yet.

My dress was only $350 USD but then with shipping to Canada and duty fee’s I ended up paying about $550 for it. That doesn’t include a few small alterations I need. I had budgeted $1,500 for a dress so was psyched to find one I loved for so cheap!! It wasn’t the style I envisioned at all but when I put it on it just felt right.

You can definitely find one for under $1,000.

Also for any Minneapolis/St. Paul brides I HIGHLY recommend the Wedding Shoppe in St. Paul. That is where I found my dress since one of my bridesmaid’s lives there and I was visiting her last summer and I could not be happier with it and with their service!!

Mine was about $850 and then I needed alterations.

Here she is! I loved the side and back view!
