Black onyx and ruby in silver. I’ve only gotten one comment asking if this is what I wanted and implying that I should have gotten a more traditional ring.

I definitely don’t regret it at all because it’s super pretty, exactly my style, and didn’t break the bank. In my family, and in my culture, engagement rings aren’t really a thing. You just wear a wedding band. My generation is more american/western so it was more expected that I’d be getting a ring. But the whole diamond engagement ring wasn’t really a cultural expectation growing up for me. Which is nice because I had more “freedom” to comfortably choose something I really like

Mine is a diamond but I think the setting it somewhat unique with the twisted band and compass setting. I’ve never seen anyone with either of those in person.

crop livkb :

It’s a moissy and obviously not a traditional setting. While it was on my “dream ring” pinterest board, it was more of a “omg this ring is nuts” kind of thing rather than a “I really want this ring” pick. But my husband definitely wanted to go with the least traditional thing I’d let him get away with, so he worked with the jewler to get the stone I wanted into this setting. It took some getting used to but I LOVE it now. I’ve been married a year after a two year engagement, so I’ve had it a long time and I still get distracted by it sometimes. It’s so sparkly and awesome.

tigress :  Oh wow. I don’t think I’ve ever seen prongs set compass-wise unless it was on a square stone. It changes the look so much. I love it. What an awesome detail.

littlered3 :  our wedding bands have been custom made by the same jeweller. So mine has been made to curve around my ring. It’s a plain 18k rose gold band, I wanted it to be nice and plain as my engagement ring isn’t plain!

I definitely knew that a solitaire wasn’t for me as soon as we started looking and we ended up getting mine made. I love it! It’s an oval ceylon sapphire with diamond trilliants on the side. My favourite part of it is that the setting is a shell. Perfect for me 🙂

I don’t know how non-traditional mine is really because it is just a solitaire but my stone is topaz (the stones in my band are topaz too). I love them so much! I’m suffering terribly from eczema so my skin is bad.

I have a morganite and I love it so much! I persuaded a few people in my real life to get one lol. I do not regret it and I did a lot of research before deciding on it. I’m not a diamond as a main stone kinda gal but I do have a lil sparkle from my halo. Everyone’s rings are so beautiful and unique.
