This was our cake, it was inspired by a cake that we fell in love with from Pinterest. I’m not sure how much it cost since we had my moms coworkers daughter make it for us and my mom covered the cost. We went with lemon and red velvet for flavours which were a huge hit since most of the cake was gone by the end of the night. I was leaning towarda cupcakes in the beginning but once I started looking online and found this cake I had to have it!

Our cake was amazing! It was a lemon sponge filled with lemon curd and covered in lime buttercream, in a green ombre color. Soo refreshing! And it was decorated with lemon, olive leaves and lavender. I still love it to this day, and the good thing is that we’re almost celebrating our one year anniversary and can enjoy the top part! ๐Ÿ™‚

I wish I had a picture to show (I will in 3 weeks!), but these are a couple pics similar to what we will have.

The texture will be embossed like the cake in this pic (definitely not doing anything like the big initial at the top, though):

…and will have a flower cascade in our colors/blooms of choice kind of similar to this:

No topper, I’ve seen some really cute ones but I feel like they don’t really go with the style of cake we chose.

I love the look of naked cakes and might have liked to order one from Momofuku, but sadly I don’t think it would fit in with the overall look of our wedding.

StellaBride21:  I love your cake and pinterest has also sucked me into something similar!  What is that bottom layer made of?  Is it fondant?  I’ve been wondering how they do that.  Our venue will be baking the cake, and our catering manager warned us that the baker isn’t so great with fondant.

My Mother-In-Law made our cake. It was carrot cake. She did an amazing job. It was so perfect.

OMG – now I really just want cake!!!  Those are all really gorgeous!  Here’s a pic of ours (it was 36 servings for $360 – so $10 a slice)
