I love everyone’s cakes! So pretty, and probably delicious too! We went with a bundt cake buffet to save money.  $200 fed around 120 people with about 20 servings leftover. We had 8 different flavors, and they were soo good! Can’t wait to order one for our anniversary

Here’s my cake:

I made it myself, and it cost less than $20 🙂

I also made about 120 mini pies in four different flavors (pumpkin, peach, cherry, and apple)

Here is our cake. The baker totally did it wrong though. I loved my cake topper and I told them not to put the chocolate shavings on. But they did any way 🙁

@Petor2011: Wow. Gorgeous! My cake actually was supposed to have bling on it, too, but it ended up not having it due to some confusion on the part of the baker. It looks great on yours!

@shambley: I love your cake! How far in advance did you make it? Also, how long did it take you to make those mini-pies? They’re ADORABLE!!!

@likelimeade:

Thank you! I made it about 2 days before the wedding (the icing is a very thick buttercream that hardened and kept the cake inside very moist!).

I made the dough one day, rolled it out/filled them the next, froze them for a few days, then baked them off (in total, probably about 3 days).

My cake will have the fleur-de-lis design but it will be square.

This was the perfect balance for my husband and I- pretty bling for me, but still sleek and modern for him 🙂 And with buttercream frosting for both us.

Our cake will be just like this, but only 3 tiers, and a different cake topper:

You could make a decorative border around it with lady fingers or kit kats and fill with fresh fruit or m&ms/jordan almonds like these. Sorry about the size of the images.

These are on Martha Stewart, and she has plenty of other ideas like decorating with candy, http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/231266/modern-wedding-cakes/@center/272453/wedding-cakes#/115267; http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/230921/diy-wedding-cake-decorations/@center/272429/diy-weddings#/264674

You could decorate with chocolate leaves (there’s a DIY how to on Martha Stewart) and chocolate dipped strawberries as well
