Nancy_c :  I’ve been using dip powder on my nails for almost 2 years and I love it! I used to get UV gel + tips but finally made the switch. My nails are a lot less damaged and are longer than they’ve ever been. It usually last me about 3 weeks, never chips, and make my nails harder. You have to soak the dip powder off which turns some people off to it. Takes about 15-20 min and then my nail tech uses a file to get the rest of it off. If you go somewhere that uses a drill you will definitely damage your nails though.

I do gel polish every couple weeks over my natural nails. I’ve noticed that excessive filing or having your nail tech rush can contribute to damaged nails. When they take the time to remove the polish properly, the damage is significantly reduced.

For my wedding I did a very very light pinkish white polish, but what I wanted was my regular Essie gel manicure. Unfortunately, I couldn’t use that one day of but I recommend Essie’s gel in Dance Class (it’s a dupe of Ballet Slippers). That one can sometimes be a bit runny and hard to work with, though. Recently, I’ve been using OPI Gel in Put it in Neutral and that is very similar- a natural looking, sheer gelly pink. The effect is similar to bridalbee31 and blushingbee2019’s manicures – depending on the number of coats you use.

newbeegirl :  That’s the look I want for my wedding nails! Are those your natural nails or acrylics? I’d like to have my natural nails done like that, but I’m worried that the salon won’t do a good job if they’re used to doing acrylics all the time.

cypresstree85 :  I kept breaking my nails leading up to the wedding so these are acrylics, but a good nail technician can do a beautiful natural French tip! I did appreciate that my nails remained unchipped even after a week of being in and out of the ocean while on my honeymoon! I had natural French tip polish done on my toes and while they looked beautiful the day of, they chipped pretty quickly.

I got a dip manicure and the tech scratched up my cuticles so badly that it’s all I can see in some of the photos. The color was nice, though and they lasted through our whole honeymoon.

I had planned to do some kind of gold, but because I forgot my something blue (got married a few hours from where we live) decided to incorporate blue into my manicure. I know this photo isn’t clear, but I opted for a champagne gold with a blue ombré on my ring fingers (and some shimmer, so it kind of looked like a starry sky):

I was going to do a neutral pink but I was glad I went with a bolder color. Eta: I did a powder dip and it last for like 5 weeks. Wrecked my nails when I removed it myself though.

The picture below is not my wedding nails. Those were red nail polish (regular) with golden glitter polish. This picture is of sticker nails that I picked up at Sally’s on a whim. And I was SHOCKED by how realistic and beautiful they looked! The packet claimed they will last for 14 days and it did and carried on. They did crack after 8-9 days because I do a lot of manual labour work but they wouldn’t completely chip or even look too bad. Packet came with many sizes and options in same colour family…. like with or without glitter. It cost $10 USD!
