I LOVE the wider look. I never got much into the really dainty look and it never suited me much (stacked is fine though!) though I know it is the more common look these days.

I only have my non-blinged out “stand ins” right now. Not very exciting (though very practical!). I am getting a new set and waiting on it, and can’t wear the old set (allergy issues).

When squished altogether my stand-ins measure 11mm, though normally they do have small spaces between some of the rings so end up being closer to 13-15mm. For me I can’t wear multiples of really THICK rings due to discomfort, but I can wear lots of thinner ones.

My new rings will consist of a “engagement” ring and 3 bands, all I think about 1.7-3mm or so as I am such a fan of thicker stacks.

Here are my stand-ins (usual apologies for crappy office lighting, dry & wrinkly looking hands, etc).

@Keltaena: Thanks. All etsy creations 🙂 Of course I will share pictures!  I am still waiting to see the models myself, and feeling very impatient! Of course, as usual with custom, everything seems to actually end up taking several days longer than originally stated (or even as updated!). The guy emailed me today though to say he would have photos up of the models for me tonight….yay! Then after that I just have to wait for the final product to be made and shipped…

Yes, I do think the dainty look has been the “in thing” the last handful of years, especially combined with pave bands. When I hung around Pricescope more, it seemed that there were lots of people desiring as thin a band as possible (like 1 – 1.5 mm). It was rare even then to see bands as “thick” as my previous set (3 mm each) even if the centre stones were quite large.

I am petite, but I don’t consider myself dainty in lifestyle or personality, so I think my rings reflect that a bit more. Wider rings/sets just seem bolder, sometimes a bit more ecletic (in comparison to the common dainty trend), and so on.  I also have found I prefer more untraditional/organic/artistic like rings and sets, which often seems (for my style preference anyway) to result in chunkier or wider bands and sets.

Trends come and go. Not that long ago it was white gold, channel settings & princess cuts, before that it was yellow gold, marquise and baguettes, now it is thin bands, pave and halos (often cushions). I believe that if you pick a style that is true to YOU and who you are, you won’t give a damn about how the trends play out and it will always be something that speaks to “you”, and will always suit you, too. It took me some trial and error to realize this!

here is my band…I love it.  My Fiance won’t let me bring it home from the jeweler.  He is afraid I might put it on and never take it off
