While mine is not 2 carats, it is 1.71 on an 18K yellow gold band with platinum prongs. And I have to laugh about yellow gold “coming back.” I have heard that SO many times, and yet the vast majority of what jewelers carry is still white gold. Every few years people will say it is making a comeback, and while it will always be classic, i just haven’t seen the love of yellow gold. Rose gold made a comeback, but yellow not so much. Even so, I far prefer yellow gold because, well, gold IS yellow. Most of my jewelry is in yellow gold, my wedding set included.

v132722 :  Thank you! Mine was purchased through Blue Nile and we discussed the 4 prong versus the 6 prong setting with them. They seemed very sure that the 4 prong setting was strong and secure enough for the stone, and we preferred it, so that’s what we went with. I just prefer to be able to see more of the stone, and I’ve never felt that the setting made it look at all square or cushion-like.

Here’s mine! 2.15 in 18K. I’m a size 5 for reference. My jeweler definitely advised 6 prongs for something around 2 carats. I preferred them anyway, so I did it. He also made me put in a basket since I picked thin, delicate prongs. I put pave in the basket, and I absolutely love that about it now!

I mix and match with white gold and rose gold. I think it looks fine and no one notices anyway.

I have a 1.95 OEC size 3.5 on a 18k yellow gold band. I love yellow gold over every other metal color!

v132722 :  you can definitely mix metals people do it all the time. Some people even have their ering in one metal and wedding band in another. I think mixing metals really looks great if you have a two toned watch or bracelet to tie everything together

mrsjsh :  yes!  I love the idea of mixing metals. I find that my wedding band has too much yellow gold. I’m thinking of getting a thinner eternity band later on. So that I see nothing but the bling 🙂

I love yellow gold! Here is my ring in 18k gold. I love the warm glow of the metal, and it looks great if you have darker, warm skin tones.

I grew up wearing yg and I love yg so much. In a world full of wg, my rings definitely stand out. I’ve tried to like white metals, but they all look like silver to me.
