I recently changed my name, and finally got to the point where my work gave me an updated email address. I decided to write my email signature like this:
Firstname (Maidenname) Newlastname
So it’s clear to everyone who I am, but that I won’t be keeping my maiden name. I’ll gradually fade it out of the signature in a few months time.
My question is, how do I do the same with my work voicemail? There are no verbal parenthesis, and I’m not a huge fan of just saying one right after the other because 1 – they sound weird together and 2 – people will think its hyphenated.
How did other people deal with this? Put both on voicemail greeting? go cold turkey with the new one and assume people figure it out?
