@Miss Tattoo: It’s actually a picture of my husband’s grandparents (both have passed away).  I’m not sure what shoe picture you are talking about, so that would not be me!  The picture of my grandparents was actually their newspaper announcement. 🙂

@melisslp: The song we sang is called “Two is better than One” (I put a link to the video on youtube above).  Awesome platter!  I wish I could go back and do one of those!

@mmsva – Thanks so much!!!  We were soooo fortunate to get a 30 minute fireworks display for nothing.  The other party at our venue had paid for a company to set up a fireworks display on the golf course.  It was a big hit amongst our guests!

@brianalaura -The song is absolutely beautiful, with lyrics just perfect for your wedding!

Here’s one of our favorite pictures of us from our wedding day:

And some of my favorite things from our wedding:

1) Our “first look” and photo time at the park where we were going to get married (weather didn’t cooperate for the wedding, but we were still able to get some pictures there). I know I say this a lot, but I loved seeing eachother before the ceremony. Because we had to change the location at the last minute, we were both pretty stressed that day and having that time just to be together was the best thing ever. I highly recommend it.

2) My flowers. I chose and arranged all our flowers myself and I was so happy with how they turned out. The sunflowers are special to me because of what they symbolize (beacuse they follow the sun, they represent faith and always being turned towards God) and because, long before we started dating, my now-husband sent me a virtual sunflower that kind of kicked things off  (my friend swore he liked me but I didn’t believe her – turns out he did ;-D)

(oooh, and I also really like my engagement ring — an irish claddaugh — and my veil, which was my mom’s, both of which are in this picture, too :-D)

3) I loved our ceremony, which my husband and I wrote together. Our good friend and mentor married us, two more good friends played music for us (I walked down the aisle to “How He Loves Us” and we ended with “The Blessing” — two really significant songs to us), my dad read the scripture, our closest family and friends gathered around and prayed over us, we took communion together, and then worshipped together, and celebrated with a whole bunch of friends and family. It was amazing and celebrated so much of what’s important to us.

@nmsoonerbride: Thank you so much! I actually entered it in a contest to be featured in Atlanta Weddings Spring/Summer 2011 issue.

@melisslp: I love the signature platter idea. I wish I had seen this before our wedding. Such a unique idea!

Oooh, I had such a hard time picking my three favorites.

1) One of my favorite pictures of DH and I. It’s a “serious” pose, but I think we’re looking at each other as if we’re the only two people who matter.

 2) Our mother/son, father/daughter dances. DH and his mom are really close, so this was a special moment for them. My dad and I, on the other hand, don’t really get along very well. He’s an alcoholic, and made life no fun for my mom, sister, and me. He’s been going through a really tough time since my parents divorced, and our dance together was really emotional because in the end, his little girl got married.

3) My little sister/MOH speech. My sister and I are really close, so what she had to say meant a lot to me. I asked her to not be too mushy because then I’d cry everywhere, and I warned her that if she told embarrassing stories about me, I had some good ones I could bring up at her future wedding :). She was really nervous, but IMO, she gave the best toast I’ve ever heard. There were tears and laughter. Perfect.

4) Our guestbook. It may not be as perfect as the ones online (even though I thought I was being original when I first thought up this idea!), but it’s special to us. My roommate from college/BM sketched the tree for us, and I added our names and wedding date to the bottom of it later. It’s not framed and hanging in our living room. (the orange leaves are not quite as bright as they appear in the picture)

ETA: sorry, I was having trouble with uploading the pictures. They’re inserted into the post and attached, so hopefully everyone can see them.

@FMM: I like that you incorporated your love of hockey. My DH is a huge Ohio State football fan, so we managed to fit that into our wedding day in a few places.
