@clarebee: If you don’t mind sharing, how much did it cost to alter your dress into a V-back? Was it difficult? Thanks!

So how did you ladies work your backs beforehand?  I always love these sorts of backs, but I’m just not as comfortable showing mine off.  Any advice?

My 2nd choice dress had a gorgeous back as well. Unfortunately it was such a delicate dress I was worried it wouldn’t work traveling halfway across the world for my destination wedding.

It was gorgeous! It is Vera Wang. It makes me a little sad to look at it again since i had to pass it up. When i was trying it on, the tulle was constantly catching on the belt. I knew I would destroy it bringing it to an outdoor destination wedding!

This is the back to my gown. I don’t know how unique it is, but I love the knot feature. Large View of the Brittney Bridal GownSorry for the watermark, the Maggie Sottero website doesn’t let you save pictures so I had to find it elsewhere. And I haven’t taken a picture of myself in it

@Malaika – I know! I think it’s the most amazing dress, and it’s not even that expensive, but tragically I have a very short, wide neck, (to go with my short, wide frame) and so I didn’t have a hope! A very tall (over 6 foot) slender friend of mine recently got married, and I could have cried because her dress was soo ordinary, and she could have been wearing something like that. (I know, I’m so bad, I always want to style everyone!)

@Silveramos – that’s one of the most beautiful dresses I’ve seen! So elegant and understated, so couture-looking. Breathtaking! And you have the perfect figure for it, you must be so happy!

@Miss ESPN – I LOVED that dress, it’s Jim Hjelm, isn’t it? I found that towards the end of my search, but they don’t sell them in the UK! Sooo crushed! Be sure to post pictures of you in it when you have them. Stunning!

@SDBornWed: well I dont know how much this alone costs because Ive had a lot done to my dress!! But I’ll give you the breakdown of what I’ve had done and the cost for the total.

-back of dress from straight across to deep V
-neckline from straight across to deep sweetheart
-shortening the dress several inches
-altering the dress several sizes (it was probably 3-4 sizes too big for me)
-adding a bustle
-removing flowers on the side

I will pay $286 after all is said and done!! 🙂
