So we found a cake topper we absolutely loved. The only unfortunate part? The hair colors were totally wrong! I decided to take a risk and try painting their hair the right colors. It went from this:
I just can’t believe it actually worked! I even painted over the headband on the bride, since I am wearing a flower in my hair but no headband. And I gave the groom longer sideburns like my groom has, lol! I might even buy some blue paint and make the shoes color-accurate too 🙂
I used the inexpensive Folk Art acrylic paint from Michaels: Van Dyke Brown for the bride’s hair and Camel for the groom’s hair.
Has anyone else “modified” their cake toppers? Let me see!

@Alleycat: Wow! You did a great job, you must have a really steady hand. It’ll be so fun to have them looking like you guys at the wedding, what a great idea 🙂

Wow I love this! It came out great.
I am planning of making my own cake topper.
The Fiance and I met at a comic store and are huge comic geeks, so I found a website the puts your face on superhero figures. I’m getting one made of each of us and then building the cake topper around it.
It’ll look great…hopefully.

@MsCarabiner: Thanks! It was actually easier than I thought; I bought reaaaaally tiny brushes for the delicate parts.
@Otaqueen: That sounds awesome! I am somewhat of a geek too–what superheros are you putting your faces on?? You definitely need to post a pic once you get it!

@Otaqueen: I’m thinking of getting our WoW avatars! (for the groom’s cupcake tree) Hurray for geek love! <3

You did a great job! Thankfully, I didn’t have to do this… Cuz I wouldn’t trust myself to 🙂 we found one with brown hair for both of us 🙂 I did consider adding some jewelry for the girl, but decided it wasn’t that important 🙂
