Say hi to Bruce!!
SIL found him as a tiny 6-week-old kitten in her parking lot at work, and Darling Husband and I took him in. He was very tiny, less than 2 lbs, and his whiskers had all been cut off. This was on the way to the vet the next day:
He is three years old now and is a BIG BOY. After moving away from an aggravating roommate situation where the roommate insisted on giving him excessive amounts of food whenever we went out, he went from 24 lbs. to his now-healthy weight of 19 lbs. 🙂 We think he’s got a little panther in him.

This is our baby, Nolen. He was ceased from a dog fighting ring as a puppy. Then, someone adopted him, and brought him back the same day because he was to hyper! Duh, he was a puppy! That day my Darling Husband adopted him. He will be 4 in August. He is the most loyal, loveable, baby ever. He follows me around. We love him to pieces! if you have instagram and want to see more of his “adorabull” pics, look up #nolomcmaisch

This is my daughter’s rescue Chloe. We call this her prison mug shot. She looks so scared.
This is Chloe at her new home a couple of years later. Not so scared!
Love everyone’s stories and pics! Hey, I just realized it was six years ago today that she was rescued from the pound!

here’s my sweetie pie. We got him as a rescue originally to keep our dog company whenever we had to be away at work during the day. Or at least that’s what I told Fiance. I had heard about this kitty needing a home and wanted to help out and give him a loving forever home. So glad we did!! it’s tough to say how old he was when we got him. The woman we adopted him from estimated 6 months but I think he was definitely older. He’s a BIG cat, and he’s the definition of a scaredy cat so I’m glad I was able to take him in because I’m not sure how easy it would have been to find a home for him. He’s one of the sweetest cats, though! And he loves playing and wrestling with the dog, too. He outweighs the dog probably by about 5 lbs. Haha

Sam in the back and his sister Leena in the front. They just turned 3 on Friday. We adopted them when they were 4 months old.

This is Laila. She rescued us December 2010. We actually went to the local shelter to see how a golden lab we picked out a few days before would interact with my 3 yr old niece. The tail was a lot to handle since we had never had a big dog with a tail. The lady asked if there were any other dogs we were interested in and Laila was the only one in the kennel not barking or jumping on the gate when I walked by so I chose her. The previous owner was forced to surrender her. She was terribly undernourished and had frostbite on the tips of ears. We could visually count the number of vertebrae in her spine and her ribs.
After we had to put our Rottweiler down because of cancer, my mother vowed not to get another dog. Then she was re-diagnosed with cancer and we realize there was a massive void in our home. I know some people won’t understand but our dogs are our family. We love them.

christabel: oh I’m so sorry for the loss of your Duncan! We are grateful for him because we unexpectedly lost my very old cat right before and it really took us by surprise.

Both of our girls are rescue kitties.
My husband rescued Emma a couple of years before we met. She is a total sweetheart & a daddy’s girl, but she loves everyone (especially if you’re offering head scratches):
All dressed up for St. Paddy’s day!
Rory was my Christmas present in 2013, and the best $25 we ever spent! She weighed less than 2 pounds when we got her, but she was a feisty little thing. Total Alpha cat. She’s my baby:

Molly is a rescued kitty… She was found by a local agency picking up puppies from a puppy mill in Chicago. She was 2 1/2 years old when she was found and 6 lbs. Now she’s a hearty 7 1/2 lbs (she’s petite!). I just got married a few weeks ago so she’s adjusting to having a cat dad now (in a good way as he’s more liberal with the cat treats!)

This is Jelly and she is a lab(?) mix that was thrown off a balcony when she was TWO WEEKS old. Little thing is 17lbs full grown and follows us everywhere possible. She’s barkey and/or skittish around strangers but is an angel around our other dog (a husky) and two cats.
