I’m trying to help fiance pick a tie, and we need some inspiration. Please show us your tie to help me!
So far I like this one the best, but it’s not very exciting. I’ve included a picture of his tux as well.

Very sharp, DG! I’ll be sure to check back later, as I’m on the lookout for ties as well. :o)

Hopefully we’re going with this tie from HughSimms.com. It would go really well with any of the suits my Fiance is considering. The ties are handmade in Los Angeles, and I like the idea of getting something that my Fiance can wear in the years after the wedding.

Ok, it’s this pattern and style (Murano from Dillards) but in shimmery CHAMPAGNE. They match the sash my bridesmaids are wearing perfectly. No small feat since they aren’t commercial dresses. It’s rich and lovely and they took FOREVER to find. They’re not this ugly beige, I promise!

Doctorgirl, you might be interested in the ties I got. WHen I get home on SUnday I will try to take a better picture and give you the SKU if you like the style. The raised pinstriping adds a nice effect. Our guys are wearing shadow stripe Calvin Klein tuxes with white shirts and black vests. My guy’s wearing a black vest and white tie. YummY!

My FH will be wearing a purple silk tie (with black tux and white shirt) that I bought him in Italy 3 years ago…I did the whole study abroad thing and it was the first time we had been apart for more than like…a weekend. lol
It looks like this pretty much:
Thennnn we’re buying the groomsmen this Perry Ells tie as a gift as well as something to wear on the wedding day (black tuxes and white shirts):

This is great inspiration. Anyone else need to sort of lead your groom down the path to the right tie? Fiance had some slightly misguided notions of what he wanted to wear 😉 It was the first time I had to intervene in his preferences, but let me just say that there are some not so attractive ties out there!

Um … YES, doctorgirl! We had a fight in the mall on Wednesday when we went shopping for ties. Not like we were yelling, more like he was grumbling at me and I was sniffling back tears — all because I told him the ones he wanted for the groomsmen were the wrong shade of green. Somehow that led to him saying that he doesn’t have any input in our wedding (which, btw is not true AT ALL). All I wanted was for us to pick out ties we BOTH liked. I didn’t think it was so much to ask.
Any advice on how to deal with this next time we go tie shopping?

Lmariea- Can you bring a swatch of the color that you want and then let him match to that? I promised myself that any opinion fiance had about the wedding, I would honor… but ties with zombies were just not going to fly!
So maybe trying to nudge him in the direction of getting the right color would be good, and then just letting go and deciding to accept "close enough".
I really have no right to say anything, though, since I pretty much just steam-rolled over the zombies!

Thomas Pink tie. With a sharp black suit. Love it!

We were going to go with the ties from MW but we only liked one vest there, and hated the tie that "went" with it. So we decided we’d buy them. We were in Kohl’s and saw some charcoal striped ties on clearance ($5.60 each). They had just enough for the Groomsmen. I wanted FI’s tie to be the same as the Groomsmen only a different color, but the only other color they had was black so we went with that. Our colors are charcoal grey and pale pink, and I promised I wouldn’t make the guys wear pink. So it was actually quite easy to match. We got extra black ties for the dads too.

OMG, I am so glad my Fiance didn’t know zombie ties exist. He would have been all about those!
Color swatches are a good idea. I’ve been thinking of making up a new inspiration board anyway. I’ll probably print that out and bring it with us, as well as a swatch of the bridesmaids dresses.
@missomally — those ties are fab! Why couldn’t Fiance have liked THAT color green?!

Wellll last night Fiance decided he wants to wear a black suit. I informed him we needed to get him a new one (I am not being snooty, but his is at least 5 years old, which he considers "new.")
Anyways, I then asked him if I should just order the tie that matches our Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses (Dessy, sunrise) to which he replied: "I am not wearing an orange tie." I scoffed and grumbled that oh yes he would. Then, I felt bad. I should probably let him pick what he wants to wear. Not quite sure what other color will match!
