I don’t know how much my shower cost because I didn’t throw it, but I did throw one for one of my friends. The situation was kind of awkward because she was living in another country but came to America for the wedding, as did her husband and her husband’s family. Before she came to America I was actually asked to host the shower, though I wasn’t a bridesmaid and would be taking on the task by myself with no help. I bought some cute decoration at Party City and I sent out e-vites. I also made a Facebook event invite because with my circle e-vites usually get deleted but everyone is on Facebook all the time. I asked some of my close friends to please make some food as it was last minute, informal and I needed to split the cost with some people. Not being a bridesmaid I hadn’t budgeted for a shower or saved up. In my circle this is also not uncommon for people to make some food for events. I had some great food made, some lasagna and yummy salads. I also made a bunch of stuff of course. All things considered it wasn’t too expensive, but I also had help and kept it to a more DIY feel. At my bridal shower, my bridesmaid had desserts and drinks set out, and she had some candles and framed pictures of my fiance and I that she took off facebook. I’m sure the cost of the food was pretty high, but aside from that she didn’t have many other expenses.

Mine was around 3K for 50 people.  I was able to host one for my friend for 1K for 40 people.  Both were at Italian BYOB restaurants.

I believe mine was about $800 for about 25 people in a private room in a Boston restaurant, with the budget cut a little through DIY paper flowers and favors, and darling groom sent a bottle of champagne (otherwise it was a bridal tea so that was the only booze).

@LondonLover:  I’m trying to figure this out now haha! My mom, neighbor & friends threw it for me. It was lovely, but not expensive. Food was probably the biggest expendature. I’ll say $500 for just under 30 people?

Haven’t had mine. But planned a shower for my sister 40 people almost 2k (nice luncheon). My other sisters shower was 27people $1500 (fancy brunch).  Neither include the cake cost.

I don’t actually know any of the details of my shower since my mom is throwing it, but knowing her style/taste and the venues around here, I would say between $3-4K.

I’m cohosting with a bunch of BMs this saturday. We’re each responsible for different things, but I think I can get a budget going…

For 36 invitees

DIY Stuff
Invites: $40
Favors: $30
Misc. Decor: $20
Centerpieces: $15

Food
Appietizers from Portos: $120
Sliders (homemade): $20
Other homemade: $60
Cupcakes (homemade): $15
Macarons: $40
Assorted homemade desserts: $40

Activities
Photo game: $10 (printing)
Scrapbook Station: $50 (using a lot of material we already have)

Stuff we had/was free
Tables, chairs & linens
Plates, cups, cutlery, napkins
Venue (home)
Photographer
Music

So that’s under $500 for about 30 guests.

Geez- I am not hosting, but I can’t imagine it will be more than $100! (15 people)  They will make some appetizers/dessert and get tableclothes and other paper from dollar store.
