I am not familiar with inviting kids to a shower no matter what the circumstances of the wedding.

At all  of the showers I have attended, the guests were women invited to the wedding, or work colleagues, club members or church members, in the case of showers hosted by those groups.

I’m not sure about inviting children, but maybe you could let it be known guests are welcome to bring thier kids if they want, to include them a bit more if you want the shower to be family friendly

No kids at the showers I’ve been to. Unless its big family party. Dd went to my sisters shower but she was the only kid, my sister really wanted her there.
