I think you could write one. Its not going to hurt anything and then you are expressing your thanks for the get together she planned.

Oh heavens, yes! She threw a dinner party in your honor! That takes a ton of planning, money for food and time to complete. It never hurts to thank anyone, anyway!

Did she pay for everyones dinner or did the guests split the check amongst themselves?? if she took the time to invite people, find a place, get everyone together and pay for dinner then definitely!……i mean no matter what…a small thank you card would be nice…If she paid for your dinner party, then she should get 2 separate cards…one for party and one for wedding…

She put it together so that means yes to a thank you note.  Doesn’t hurt to send one either!
