I have my shower registry done, and i’m pretty happy with it- it’s primarily lower-ticket items, with a handful of more expensive ones. (Everything under $150.) Most items are in the $20-$50, there are some that are even less if someone wants to put a few things together, etc. To me, that’s an appropriate shower gift price range.
I also had a few small kitchen appliances, GPS, etc that are 100-150. I have a few items that I am thinking about adding after the shower for the wedding itself (I’m debating an iPad in the hopes that several people will go in on it together.)
My question is… do I need to go back and add more bigger-ticket items after the shower for the wedding? I’m having trouble coming up with things like that. I’m not doing china or any kind of dishware because I inherited an complete set with service for 38 (not even kidding..) and I’m happy with that. There aren’t a lot of big-ticket items we need. I’m also not into super expensive housewares….i don’t even want a ktichenaid because I don’t want someone spending that kind of money on something I won’t use all the time! (I’ll be happy with a much cheaper Sunbeam mixer.)
I don’t pay much attention to what’s on a registry for the actual wedding because I’ve always just given money as wedding gifts. (And we would like that just as much.)

We didn’t separate our registries out — we registered for what we needed, and people can buy off of it if they wish for both the shower and the wedding. I don’t think you need to make a “shower-specific” registry.

You dont create separate registries for the shower and the wedding. whatever is left after the shower may be purchased as a wedding gift. We kept and eye on ours to make sure there were items left on it. However, 99% of guests gave us money at the wedding.

Most people will give you money at the wedding rather than a physical gift, the real purpose of the registry is for the shower. So if there’s something you want, I’d put it on the registry before the shower happens, not after.

No, I didn’t really mean creating separate registries, but am I expected to “restock” the registry after the shower with more specific wedding gifts? because if I do, i don’t have a whole lot more ideas.
getting 99% money/gc’s at the wedding sounds good to me!

@ZChick17: We just registered for things that we wanted/needed and people either bought them for the shower or the wedding. I added things throughout our wedding planning as I found more things that I wanted.

Just register for what you actually want and need. If there’s something you want/need that you feel is too expensive for your shower, put it on the registry now. You never know if several people want to team up on purchasing a gift or if someone really wants to be generous. Most people give money, but there are always people that want to bring a physical gift to a wedding.

We’re using the same registry for our showers and wedding, but we’re keeping an eye on stock and which products have been purchased/potentially discontinued. If we need to add more before the wedding we will, but we’re still keeping things essentially in one pool
