If you’d usually be nervous and people would expect you to be all “oh my, what is this?!” I’d probably throw your hands up over your face. That’s usually my reaction to being surprised.

Easy to do, and looks like you’re overwhelmed by it all. Wide eyes, huge smile, hands over the mouth, buys you a few seconds to gather yourself and start saying hello to everyone ๐Ÿ™‚

Enjoy your shower!

Don’t pretend anything, and STOP being NERVOUS. Scan the faces when you walk in and you are sure to see someone you don’t expect there. React to seeing them. No one will know OR CARE that someone had slipped.

There’s MUCH TOO MUCH DRAMA in this stuff. Showers are supposed to be fun, not an Academy Award Performance. If anyone expects you to “pretend” for their benefit, they’re not worth worrying about.

If it makes you feel better I had a surprise birthday party ruined the day before. The day of I arrived before my friends and had to hide in a bedroom, climb out a window, over the fence and “be surprised”. Just smile and appreciate that people care so much.Just say thank you. It is best to be underwhelming in a surprise than come off as fake

If you hate being the centre of attention and opening gifts in front of people, why insist on a shower?

ClaudiaKishi:  I don’t see anywhere where OP ‘insisted’ she have a shower. Usually the bridal party just throws one regardless.

kaytipie:  Whoa! I was going to comment on the shower situation but what you said to ClaudiaKishi: is really inappropriate! She asked an honest question. Maybe you thought it was rude but there was no name calling. Then you go and call her a bitch?! Maybe you two have history from previous posts or something but geez…take the high road!

llevinso:  Haha it’s moderated now so I have no clue what she called me- you should inbox me ๐Ÿ˜› definitely no history here other than remembering her other post.

Anyway, I find it hilarious when people fly off the handle and call people rude while at the same time hurling insults…over what? Like, maybe instead of being vitriolic and defensive, think about why you’re coming across a certain way?
