A family friend is hosting a shower for me 6 days before my wedding, and wants to know what “theme” I want. My mom suggested staying away from a basic “kitchen” theme since everyone coming to the shower will probably bring kitchen related gifts from our registry to the wedding 6 days later…but I’m at a loss for other ideas! Most of the guests will be family friends of my parents, so I don’t want to do something really risque like a lingerie shower (might be awkward in front of my Future Mother-In-Law and future grandmother in law!)
Any fun ideas?

You really can do anything! Pick a favorite movie and have that be your inspiration. I had an Alice In Wonderland shower since that’s one of my favorite movies. It turned out great and I loved it! This link has a lot of the basic type of showers http://www.beau-coup.com/bridal_shower_themes.htm Pick something that is you and go with it! Keep in mind that if you pick something like my shower it does take some effort for your party hostess to find everything and put it together.

We are throwing a Honeymoon themed Travel Shower for my FDIL since she and my son are registered with Honeyfund.com. The centerpieces are little decorative suitcases that we bought at Ross and are filling with 4 inch pots of flowers from a garden center. We are serving foods from the countries they are visiting in the Mediterranean. If guests don’t want to buy something from the honeymoon registry, they can bring something that would be useful for their trip (suitcase, passport holders, luggage tags, etc.)

You can do a rock around the clock theme shower. That is where each of the guests gets assigned a time and picks a gift accordingly. Example, 10pm, champagne and a cute do not disturb sign, 8am coffee or tea maker with accessories, etc.
My Future Mother-In-Law also just attended another shower where they did “stock the wine rack” and everyone brought wine for her.
